According to records provided by the Public Security Police Force, Macao registered over 391,000 visitor arrivals (non-resident employees and students excluded) throughout the three-day 1st May Labor Day holiday (29th April – 1st May), a rise of 4.7% over the corresponding three-day holiday of last year. Over 361,000 visitors came from the Greater China markets, up by 7.6% in total. Visitor arrivals from the Mainland grew by 16.1% whereas the numbers of visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan dropped by 24.1% and 19.5% respectively. Other markets registered a fall of 21%.
Industry figures revealed that hotel establishments (hotels and guest houses) in Macao registered an average occupancy rate of 94.3% during the three-day 1st May Labor Day holiday, a slight decrease of 0.2 percentage points from last year. The average room rate of hotel establishments (hotels and guest houses) in Macao during 1st May Labor Day holiday went down by 4% to 1,612.5 patacas approximately.
