“2018 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Thailand)” and “Academic Exchanges on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Free Consultation between Thailand and Macao” to be held on May 10 and 11, in Bangkok


Organized by the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) in collaboration with the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of the People’s Republic of China, and jointly co-ordinated by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao (hereinafter, “GMTCM Park”) and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor Association of Thailand, the “2018 Traditional Medicine International Development Forum (Thailand)” will be held on May 10, 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The present event aims at enabling Macao to play its full role as a bridge between the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and Mainland China, in terms of promotion and dissemination of culture as well as exchange of techniques applied in traditional medicine, so as to provide to the actual and acceding countries of the “Belt and Road” Initiative of the Central Government a platform for exchanges and cooperation in traditional medicine, thereby facilitating the development of this industry of Macao in line with the integration policy of the Central Government’s strategic development plan.

At the opening ceremony, the GMTCM Park will also hold signing ceremonies of key-projects and a Memorandum of Cooperation in addition to the awarding ceremony of the “Academic Exchanges on TCM and Free Consultation between Thailand and Macao”.

Nearly 250 professionals will be invited to the event, comprising renowned individuals from government authorities, experts and scholars from academic and scientific research institutions and representatives from enterprises and industry associations coming from China, Thailand, Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, among others. The Agenda of the Forum consists of keynote speeches, themed reports, and business matching and exchange sessions, provided that participants can engage in discussions and exchanges of views on import and export trade of traditional medicine, product development, and application of TCM promotional model toward the objective of building a platform for exchanges among governments, institutions and enterprises related to the industry.

On the following day (May 11), the GMTCM Park will host the “Academic Exchanges on TCM and Free Consultation between Thailand and Macao”, by inviting 15 TCM professionals of recognized merit, including TCM chief practitioners from Thailand, TCM renowned specialists from the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and outstanding youth TCM practitioners from Macao, to jointly provide services such as pulse diagnosis, massage, dietetics, and consultancy in TCM health care. Academic exchanges in TCM clinical techniques will also be conducted at the event.

The Forum is strongly supported by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine of the Ministry of Public Health Thailand (DTAM), the Health Bureau of the Government of MSAR, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Medicines and Health Products, and the Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other entities, in addition to the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and the Thai-Chinese Economy Association, in their capacity as co-organizing entities.
