"Music in Campus" Concerts of the Macao Orchestra

The Macao Orchestra (OM), under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, visited Pui Ching Middle School, Ilha Verde Primary School and the St. Joseph Diocesan College No. 5 (English Section) to present a series of school concerts entitled "Music in Campus”, interpreting folk music from various countries to more than 1,500 teachers and students in primary schools and kindergartens to allow students to get closer to and develop an interest in music.

At the "Music in Campus" concerts, musicians from the Macao Orchestra string group performed folk music from different countries and regions around the world as well as new pieces adapted from folk songs, including Xinjiang folk song Please Remove Your Veil, Spanish folk song La Cucuracha (The Cockroach), Russian folk song Korobushka and Haitian folk song Yellow Bird, among others. In addition, our musicians performed lively instrument demonstrations, allied to interactive activities, attracting the active and enthusiastic participation of the younger students and creating a joyous environment for all of them.

In the future, the Orchestra will continue to hold these kind of educational concerts to provide greater extracurricular musical engagement for teachers and students.
