On 20 December 2015, the State Council clarified the jurisdiction of land and sea areas of the Macao Special Administrative Region (the Macao SAR) by the publication of the “Map of the Administrative Division of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China” through Decree no. 665. Since then, the Macao SAR shall officially govern, in accordance with the law, a maritime area covering 85 square kilometres. This will be beneficial for the promotion and consolidation of the integration and cooperation between the Macao SAR and other neighbour regions. In this context, the Legal and Judicial Training Centre is going to organise a five-day seminar on “Jurisdiction and Sustainability: Maritime Planning and Transportation” at the auditorium of the Civil Service Training Centre located on Alameda Dr. Carlos D’ Assumpção, Cheng Feng Commercial Centre, 7th floor, on June 11th to 15th , from 6:15pm to 8:30pm.
Integrated as part of the 3rd Macao SAR-EU Co-operation Programme in the Legal Field, this training will feature the following guest speakers:
1. Vasco Emanuel Vinagre Becker-Weinberg (Ph.D.) – Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal, and Expert in the Public International Law Advisory Group;
2. Paulo Jorge Cruz Tavares Saraiva Parracho – Consultant in the Mobility and Transportation Authority, and Former Director of the Maritime Administration Services Bureau, Portugal.
The Seminar will be conducted in Portuguese, with simultaneous translation into Cantonese. The following topics will be discussed:

The implementation in the Macao Special Administrative Region
The 3rd Co-operation Programme in the Legal Field between the Macao SAR and the European Union is going to take place until November 2019. The execution of the Co-operation Programme is coordinated by the Legal Affairs Bureau and hosted by many different entities and public departments of the Macao SAR, namely, the Legal and Judicial Training Centre, the Institute of European Studies of Macau, the Economic Services, the Consumer Council and the Social Welfare Bureau.
