The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will lead a delegation representing the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on a series of visits covering nine cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area). The first trips – to the cities of Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhongshan and Jiangmen in Guangdong Province – will be in late June.
These visits aim for closer cooperation between Macao and Greater Bay Area cities, and are to enhance preparation for the launch of the Greater Bay Area Development Plan. The trips stem from the friendly relationships previously established via the “Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Greater Bay Area”.
The Chief Executive will visit Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen during the period of 21 to 22 June, and Zhongshan and Jiangmen on 25 June. During the visits, the Chief Executive will meet with leaders of those cities, to exchange views on the development path for the Greater Bay Area, and pay site visits to industrial development projects.
On 1 July 2017, witnessed by President Xi Jinping, the “Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation in the Development of the Greater Bay Area” was signed by the governments of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR and the Macao SAR, and by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The Government has commenced preparations to integrate Macao in the development of the Greater Bay Area, in order to seize opportunities stemming from it, that will benefit all sectors of the city’s economy and the Macao public.
Under the leadership of the Chief Executive, the Government delegation visiting Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen will include: the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan; Executive Council members Mr Cheang Chi Keong, Ms Ho Sut Heng and Mr Wong Yue Kai; the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive's Office, Ms O Lam; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Mr Chan Chi Ping; the Director of the Policy Research Office, Mr Lao Pun Lap; and the Director of the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, Ms Lei Ut Mui.
The delegation the Chief Executive is leading to Zhongshan and Jiangmen includes: the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan; Executive Council spokesperson Mr Leong Heng Teng and members Mr Cheang, Ms Ho, Mr Wong and Mr Chan Chak Mo; the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive's Office, Ms O; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Mr Chan; the Director of the Policy Research Office, Mr Lao; and the Director of the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, Ms Lei.
During the Chief Executive's absence from Macao, the Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, will be acting Chief Executive.
