Announcement of the winners of the 36th Macao Young Musicians Competition

The Chinese and Western instruments contests of the “36th Macao Young Musicians Competition”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, started on 23 June at the Institute for Tourism Studies and will be held until 15 July. On the first and second day of the Competition, five contests took place and respective winners were selected.

Several contests took place on 23 June. In the Guzheng Elementary category, Kong Wai Kio Kristen was awarded the first prize, while Hong Tsz Kwan and Chan Iek Cheng conquered the second and third prizes, respectively. In the Guzheng Intermediate category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Mou U Weng, Yung I Kio and Sou Chi Kei. Some contests took place on 24 June. In the Yangqin Elementary category, Lai I Cheng Seanna was awarded the first prize, while Siu Chi Ieng and Cheng Yeuk Ming Yumi conquered the second third prizes, respectively. In the Yangqin Intermediate category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Song Chak Seng, Lam Cheng Kei and Si Nok Hang. In the Guzheng Advanced category, the first, second and third prizes were awarded to Lee Wan Hoi, Cheong Neng Hoi Chara and Lei Weng Ian. Further Distinction and Merit Prizes were awarded in the same categories to several participants.
