The latest Consumer Report published by the Consumer Council features a test report on the quality of bottled water co-tested with IACM’s Food Safety Centre, as well as a test report on the efficiency of mops. Consumers are suggested to check this issue before buying any of the two products.
All 30 bottled water samples pass
The Council and the Food Safety Centre tested 30 samples of bottled water, including distilled water, mineral water, and purified water, for their appearance, colour, and turbidity, etc., they are also tested for contents of chloride, cyanide, and microorganism, test results are satisfactory. Consumers are suggested to choose bottled water according to their health condition, and to check the product labels, it is always best to take water from home when going out.
The test on bottled quality is an annual project of the Council and the Food Safety Centre to ensure consumers’ health.
12 mops samples tested for convenience and durability
The Council conducted a test on 12 mops earlier, including cotton, fiber, and plastic-cotton, for their functionality, durability, and water absorbency, etc.. Test results show that mop prices are not directly related to the review scores. Mops made with cotton and fiber are usually easier to handle than those made with plastic-cotton, consumer may check the report for details.
Promotion on “Certified Shops”
In order to promote the “Certified Shop” mechanism, the Consumer Council visited Fuzhou in Fujian province and Taipei City earlier to participate in conference and promotional activities, details can be found in the latest Consumer Report. The latest issue also includes a feature on the evaluation of “Certified Shops”, and introduces the laws and regulations that prevent “Certified Shops” from using disclaimer.
