CE to continue tour of Greater Bay Area cities


The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will lead a Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government delegation on a continued tour taking in cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area). The latest stops are to be Zhaoqing, Foshan, Huizhou and Dongguan. The visits will take place from 9 July to 11 July inclusive.

During this period, the Chief Executive will meet with leading officials of those cities, to exchange views on joint participation in advancing of the Greater Bay Area, and will make site visits to gain insights into the respective industrial development of those cities. The “Thousand Talents Union” will also arrange for its members to take part in the visits to Huizhou and Dongguan.

The Chief Executive began a programme of visits to nine cities of the Greater Bay Area in late June. The first phase of the programme covered Zhuhai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, with the visits taking place from 21 June to 22 June. The second phase saw him go to Zhongshan and Jiangmen on 25 June. The Chief Executive and his delegation will visit the remaining four cities next week, to complete the nine-city tour.

On 28 June, the Chief Executive also gave a report to the Vice Premier of the State Council, Mr Han Zheng, in Beijing, regarding opinions and recommendations from the Macao SAR Government and various sectors of Macao society, on the Greater Bay Area development plan.

The Macao SAR Government officials due to accompany the Chief Executive on the visits to Zhaoqing, Foshan, Huizhou and Dongguan will include: the Secretary for Administration and Justice, Ms Chan Hoi Fan; Executive Council spokesperson Mr Leong Heng Teng and members Mr Liu Chak Wan, Mr Ma Iao Lai, Mr Cheang Chi Keong, Mr Chan Meng Kam, Ms Ho Sut Heng and Mr Lam Kam Seng; the Chief-of-Office of the Chief Executive's Office, Ms O Lam; the Director of the Government Information Bureau, Mr Chan Chi Ping; the Principal Advisor of the Policy Research Office, Mr Mi Jian; and the Director of the Protocol, Public Relations and External Affairs Office, Ms Lei Ut Mui.

During the Chief Executive's absence from Macao, the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, will be acting Chief Executive.
