Inauguration of “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Penetrate”

The “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has been launched, featuring a series of excellent activities in July, of which one of the four thematic exhibitions, the “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Penetrate”, was inaugurated on Saturday, 7 July, at 3:30pm, at the Tak Chun Macau Art Garden. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R.,Wan Sucheng; the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; the Chief Executive Officer of the Tak Chun Group, Levo Chan; and the curator James Chu.

In the exhibition “Penetrate”, local curator James Chu, in collaboration with six artists from Mainland China, Taiwan and China who are residing in Macao, including Eugenio Novikoff Sales, Cai Guo Jie, Nick Tai, Peng Yun, Wong Weng Io and Zhang Ke, use different media and techniques to interpret the culture traits of the city. They use their own perception of the contemporary reality by bold association with states and objects, attempt to cohere the appearance and subjective consciousness by contemporary art.

The “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Penetrate”, is held from 8 July to 9 September, on the ground floor and 1st floor of the Exhibition Gallery of Tak Chun Macau Art Garden. The other three extraordinary exhibitions of the Annual Arts Exhibition include “Aiya”, “The Universe” and “Alter Ego”, which are held at various cultural facilities. Admission to the exhibitions is free. All are welcome.
