Inauguration of “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Aiya”

The “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has been launched, featuring a series of excellent activities in July, of which one of the four thematic exhibitions, the “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Aiya”, was inaugurated on Saturday, 7 July, at 5:30pm, at the Gallery of Oriental Foundation. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Vice President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Kent Ieong Chi Kin; the Coordinator of Oriental Foundation in Macao, Ana Paula Cleto Godinho; the Coordinator of Creative Macau – Center for Creative Industries, Lúcia Lemos; the curator José Drummond and the representative of the artist, Yves Etienne Sonolet.

In the exhibition “Aiya”, the curator José Drummond use the polysemous interjection of “Aiya” to represent the different situations and conditions developed from the collision of the multiculturalism of Macao, interpreting the diverse culture of Macao. The exhibition will showcase the inspiring works by five local artists, including Fortes Pakeong Sequeira, João Miguel Barros, Joaquim Franco, Rui Rasquinho, Yves Etienne Sonolet.

The “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries – Aiya”, is held from 8 July to 9 September, at the Gallery of Oriental Foundation. The other three extraordinary exhibitions of the Annual Arts Exhibition include “Penetrate”, “The Universe” and “Alter Ego”, which are held at various cultural facilities. Admission to the exhibitions is free. All are welcome.
