The second day of the GMBPF records a heavy visitor flow. In addition to the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Exhibition Area” themed “Guangdong-Macao 10th Anniversary Pier”, GMBPF also launched the “Guangdong-Macao Young Entrepreneur Exhibition Area” for the first time, alongside with an exhibition area for Congjiang county of Guizhou. In addition, the exhibition tries to enrich the elements of the “Belt and Road Area” by adding an exhibition area for Malaysian products. Through Macao’s role as a platform, many participating enterprises hope to develop their brands and participate in the “Belt and Road Initiative”, while expanding their markets in Portuguese-speaking countries and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area. Some Macao residents are pleased to see new elements in this year, which makes the exhibition even more attractive to visitors.
The venue takes up an area of 9,000 square metres with more than 380 booths and different exhibition areas. 52 booths are set up in the “Belt and Road Area”. The exhibition area for Malaysian products is freshly introduced, in addition to the return of those for Myanmar and Indonesia. Evelyn Foo, a representative from a Malaysian frozen food company and a first-time participant, found that Macao residents really enjoy their products and they have already discussed co-operation with several agents. She hopes that her company's products can go global and make their way into the Mainland market.
Ms. Tan, person-in-charge of a company in Jiangmen, said that their company has been participating in GMBPF since the first edition. During this period, they got to know many Macao enterprises which helps with their product development, and they also have many repeat customers who are coming back to the event for their product. They hope to make good use of Macao as an important node in the construction of the “Belt and Road Initiative” as well as its advantages of being a co-operation platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries to expand their business market.
Ms. Chen, a representative from a biotechnology company in Dongguan, is participating in the “Guangdong-Macao Young Entrepreneur Exhibition Area” and selling essential oils this year. Through the exhibition, she hopes to promote their brand and let more Macao residents and participating enterprises learn about the functions of their products. Meanwhile, she has successfully found some partners and is pleased with the results. She also noted that with the event being held concurrently with the “Macao Franchise Expo 2018” (2018MFE), it attracts even more visitors and generates synergistic effects.
The exhibition area for Congjiang county of Guizhou province also attracts lots of residents and tourists. Ms. You, a representative from an eco-technology company, said that they did not expect their company’s newest graphene memory pillows and latex pillows to be all sold out on the first day of the exhibition. Through her participation in GMBPF, she hopes to get more orders, expand her business and contribute to solving the employment problem in Congjiang county.
Moreover, Guangdong province has organised a total of 132 enterprises to exhibit their products in the “Guangdong Province Branded Products Exhibition & Sales Area” this year. Products presented are branded products from various places in the province, including food products, daily necessities, household appliances, gifts and more. Exhibitors are happy with the sales in these two days. Mr. Wu, who runs a food company in Guangzhou and a seven-year exhibitor, is very happy with the sales performance at every edition of GMBPF. Last year, the products that he presented could not even satisfy the demand of the visitors. This year, he is looking for partners to bring in his products to Macao.
Ms. Hong, a representative from a local company selling chocolates in the “Macao Featured Products Area”, said that Macao enjoys the advantages of being a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and so they can import cocoa beans from Brazil and sell them and carry out research and development in Beijing. She wants to enhance Macao residents’ recognition of their products and develop them into one of Macao’s tourist souvenir brands.
As the second day of the event falls on a Saturday, more visitors flocked to the fair, not to mention long queues at various “check-in points” and “game spots” inside the venue. Many residents and tourists enjoyed themselves and were happy with their purchases. A hard-core fan of GMBPF complimented on the arrangements of this year’s “Celebrity Cooking Live Show”. He enjoyed the competition between the celebrity chefs from Macao and Shunde because it was very interesting. “Both adults and children were amused!” he said. Ms. Lam, a first-time visitor, learned about the exhibition through various promotional materials and so she made her trip to GMBPF. She found that the exhibition suitable for families as it features a wide range of products.
Tomorrow is Sunday and the last day of the event. Do not miss the chance to go on a shopping spree and enjoy a series of fascinating programmes. In addition to a number of “cooling” workshops, singing and dance performances, product promotional sessions, there are also prize interactive games, consumer lucky draws and a lucky draw finale, sending out loads of prizes to the audiences. The GMBPF is open from 10am to 8pm with free admissions.
