MPI Students Participated in the Beijing “Aeronautics and Astronautics Summer Camp”, to Comprehend the Development of Science and Technology in China

MPI Students Participated in the “Aeronautics and Astronautics Summer Camp”

In early July, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) organised students to participate in the “Aeronautics and Astronautics Summer Camp” held by Beihang University. This summer camp facilitated university students from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to study together, to broaden their horizons, and to understand the development of national aeronautics and astronautics industries. MPI students thanked MPI for providing them with such a rare learning opportunity.

Beihang University has excelled as one of the first 16 key universities in China, and was chosen to participate in the “Double First-Class” plan in 2017, aiming to build a world-class university with world-class disciplines. It is also a leading university for cultivating talents in the fields of aeronautics and astronautics. The “Aeronautics and Astronautics Summer Camp” has been organised for 10 years so far, attracting university students from Beijing, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to participate every year. During the summer camp, MPI students attended the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan Youth Forum and the lectures about aeronautics and astronautics, learned to make aerospace models, as well as visited the China Aviation Museum, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace (Yiheyuan), and the Great Wall.

Student Kou of the Music programme felt it was impressive to learn the evolution process from Shenzhou 1 to Shenzhou 11 under the guidance of Professor Zhang Houying, the former chief-directorof the application system of China Manned Space Engineering. Student Lei of the Chinese-English Translation and Interpretation programme was happy to meet students from other universities, and to learn aeronautical and astronautical knowledge that she seldom got to know in Macao. MPI always emphasises the importance of fostering students’ all-round development, and therefore provides diversified activities to expand students’ knowledge and improve their abilities in all aspects.
