How to Apply

Time of application: No relevant stipulation

Application procedures and documents required

  1. Application Approach
    1. Interested person or a legal representative applying to the Chief Executive through the Residence and Stay Affairs Department;
    2. The legal representative should submit the following:
        1. A certified letter of authorization;
        2. A copy of his/her valid identification document.
  2. Documents Must be Presented
    1. Unless otherwise noted, the original should be exhibited for authentication if a copy is submitted;
    2. The copy should be authenticated if the original cannot be exhibited.
  3. Documents to be submitted according to purpose of visit
    1. For the purpose of study at a higher institute
      1. A completed application form (format 1); application form (format 8) is also required if the application includes family members;[Note: The application form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
      2. Copy of the bio data page of a valid passport/travel document;
      3. Document of financial status (e.g. bank statement, bank book of savings account, tax receipt, etc.);
      4. Admission document issued by a higher institute in Macao;
      5. Reservation document of return flight (if the program taken by the student lasts for less than 6 months);
      6. 2 recent 1.5-inch, full-face, no-hat, white-background, coloured or black-and-white photos of the interested person;
      7. In special circumstances, other information should also be submitted upon the request of the Subdivision.
    2. For the purpose of work
      1. A completed application form (format 1); application form (format 8) is also required if the application includes family members;[Note: The application form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
      2. Copy of the bio data page of a valid passport/travel document;
      3. Copy of employment approval document issued by the Macao authorities (i.e. the application or renewal application of “Authorization to Stay for Non-resident Workers” which has been verified by the Macao Residence and Stay Affairs Department);[Note: The original of this document is not required.]
      4. 2 recent 1.5-inch, full-face, no-hat, white-background, coloured or black-and-white photos of the interested person;
      5. In special circumstances, other information should also be submitted upon the request of the Subdivision.
    3. For the purpose of stay as family of non-resident workers
      1. A completed application form (format 1); application form (format 8) is also required if the application includes family members;[Note: The application form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
      2. Copy of the bio data page of a valid passport/travel document;
      3. Copy of approval notification (i.e. the letter notifying the non-resident worker’s reuniting family of the granting of “Special Authorization to Stay”);[Note: The original of this document is not required.]
      4. 2 recent 1.5-inch, full-face, no-hat, white-background, coloured or black-and-white photos of the interested person;
      5. In special circumstances, other information should also be submitted upon the request of the Subdivision.
    4. For the purpose of group tour
      1. Guarantee issued by the travel agency responsible for the group tour and the traveler list;
      2. Information of the local travel agency organizing the group tour;
      3. Copy of the bio data page of all travelers’ valid passport/travel document;
      4. 2 recent 1.5-inch, full-face, no-hat, white-background, coloured or black-and-white photos of the interested person;
      5. In special circumstances, other information should also be submitted upon the request of the Subdivision.
    5. For other purposes (e.g. individual travel, family visit, stay as dependant, residence, etc.)
      1. A completed application form (format 1); application form (format 8) is also required if the application includes family members;[Note: The application form is available at the Subdivision concerned and the website of the Public Security Police Force.]
      2. Copy of the bio data page and used inside pages of a valid passport/travel document;
      3. Document of financial status (e.g. bank statement, bank book of savings account, tax receipt, employment certificate, etc.);
      4. Document of transportation to Macao and accommodation arrangement (e.g. round-trip air ticket and hotel reservation receipts, etc.);
      5. Proof of purpose of visit (e.g. copy of residence/stay document or Macao Identity Card of kindred in Macao, document of kinship, etc.);
      6. Bio data page of travel document that has been used for entry to Macao (if any);
      7. Valid entry visa or residence visa/permit of other countries or regions (if any);
      8. 2 recent 1.5-inch, full-face, no-hat, white-background, coloured or black-and-white photos of the interested person;
      9. In special circumstances, other information should also be submitted upon the request of the Subdivision.
        Remark: Vietnamese applicants are required to submit their Vietnamese identity card and household registry document along with the application.

Remark / Requirements

  1. According to Term 1, Article 66 of Law No. 16/2021, to apply for a visa, Authorization to Enter and Stay, Macao SAR Residence Authorization, Renewal or Extension of Residence Authorization means the interested person consents to have his or her personal information, which includes his or her biodata, treated by the Public Security Police Force.
  2. According to Term 3, Article 7 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021, as long as there is no reason for extinction, the Prior Authorization to Enter granted in accordance with the special design should be used within a maximum of 120 days from the date the Authorization is granted. It entitles the holder to stay in the Macao Special Administrative Region within the period specified in the Authorization.
  3. According to Article 4 of Administrative Regulation No. 38/2021, during entry to Macao, the passports, travel documents and any other documents accepted for the purpose of immigration control of non-residents must be valid for at least 90 days beyond the period of their intended stay in the Macao Special Administrative Region.
  4. According to Articles 21, 22, 35 and 36 of Law No. 16/2021, non-residents should declare their purpose of travel truthfully in their application for Prior Authorization to Enter so as to avoid affecting their normal entry owing to any inconsistence in their declared purpose and the actual purpose. Non-residents who are found to be engaged in activities that are obviously deviated from their purpose of travel are liable to have their Authorization to Stay revoked, leave Macao within a time limit and be imposed entry restrictions according to the law.
  5. According to Chief Executive’s Written Instructions No. 167/2021, non-residents are required to possess proper means of subsistence for entry to and stay in the Macao Special Administrative Region. Those who fail to prove they have proper means of subsistence for their intended stay or the means to purchase a return transport ticket are liable to be refused entry to the Macao Special Administrative Region according to the law.
  6. According to Term 1, Article 66 of Law No. 16/2021, to apply for a visa, Authorization to Enter and Stay, Macao SAR Residence Authorization, Renewal or Extension of Residence Authorization means the applicant consents to have his or her personal information, which includes his or her biodata, treated by the Public Security Police Force.
