About the service

Service offerings

• Permit for Visiting an Inmate：
  Inmates are entitled to no less than an hour’s visit time each week.
• Permit for Visiting a Housed Juvenile：
  Juveniles in the Institution enjoy time of visit for no less than one hour each time.
• Video Visit to an Inmate：
  The service allows the elderly, expectant mothers, people with limited mobility and the disabled to have a conversation with a family member or friend held in Coloane Prison without having to make the long trip there.
• Video Visit to Juvenile Delinquent：
  The video visit service enables elderly people, expectant mothers, people with limited mobility or disabilities to speak to a friend / family member residing in the Youth Correctional Institution without having to travel a long way there.

Target group and eligibility

• Permit for Visiting an Inmate：
  – Individuals aged 16 or above with the lawful right to reside or stay in Macao;
  – The Permit is not required for inmates’ children or siblings under 16, but they have to present valid identification document(s) and be accompanied by a Permit holder or an authorized visitor when paying a visit.
• Permit for Visiting a Housed Juvenile：
  – A housed juvenile’s lineal relatives, guardians, siblings at 16 or above or an entity actually taking care of the juvenile;
  – A housed juvenile’s siblings under 16 can only pay visits when accompanied by a parent, guardian or an entity actually taking care of the juvenile.
• Video Visit to an Inmate:：
  – Elderly people aged 60 or above;
  – People with disabilities;
  – People with limited mobility;
  – Expectant mothers.
• Video Visit to Juvenile Delinquent：
  – Elderly people aged 60 or above;
  – People with disabilities;
  – People with limited mobility;
  – Expectant mothers.

Service results

• Permit for Visiting an Inmate：
  After the Permit is issued, the applicant can visit the inmate on the date and time arranged by Coloane Prison.
• Permit for Visiting a Housed Juvenile：
  After the Permit is issued, the applicant can visit the juvenile on the date and time arranged by Youth Correctional Institution.
• Video Visit to an Inmate：
  After permission is granted, the applicant can proceed to the Correctional Services Bureau Service and Information Centre where he/she can speak to a family member or friend in prison through the video conference system for a period of one hour.
• Video Visit to Juvenile Delinquent：
  The applicant, once authorized, can proceed to the Correctional Services Bureau Service and Information Centre where they can speak to a family member / friend residing in the Youth Correctional Institution for up to one hour via the video conference system.
