Procedures and Required documents

Procedures of collecting medicines:

Queuing number has been printed on the upper left corner of the prescription

  1. Wait at the waiting area until the queuing number is shown on the screen, or the push notification is received from the “Macao One Account” mobile app.
  2. Collect medicine from the counter accordingly.

Queuing number has NOT been printed on the upper left corner of the prescription

  1. Present the valid prescription to reception to confirm if payment is required. (If the prescription has already been endorsed with “Exemption from payment”, the prescription can be handed directly to specialist outpatient pharmacy for dispensing.)
  2. Hand in the prescription to specialist outpatient pharmacy and collect a queuing number. For those where payment is required, charges will be calculated at pharmacy and then pay at reception.
  3. Wait at the waiting area until the queuing number is shown on the screen, or the push notification is received from the “Macao One Account” mobile app.
  4. Collect medicine from the counter accordingly.

Documents required upon collection:

1. Valid prescriptions:

  • Prescriptions printed with either a letter “H” or “S” on the top for dispensing ONLY at the specialist outpatient pharmacy.
  • Prescriptions printed with letters “HP” on the top for dispensing at the specialist outpatient pharmacy (ONLY when the medicines are unavailable from any community pharmacies).

  • Healthcare card (applicable for government employee or their family members)
  • Medical card (applicable for the staff of constitutional union with the government health department)
  • Healthcare card and other relevant documents (applicable for those who possess “gratuitously” medical benefit)

Note: if not to be collected in person, the representative must provide his/her identity document for record.

Approval Time

Medicines will be dispensed and ready to collect within 35 minutes after submission of prescription to specialist outpatient pharmacy. (Service Pledge)


Notes

  1. Convention prescription should be collected at CHCSJ assigned community pharmacies.
  2. Prescription printed with letter “H” is to be dispensed in specialist outpatient pharmacy. When the prescribed treatment duration exceeds three months, the medicines will be refilled separately for twice or several times accordingly. This policy is to safeguard the medicines are being used safely and cost effectively.
    For “H” prescriptions that need to be dispensed in several instalments, the patient can take a queue ticket and collect the medicines at the Specialist Outpatient Pharmacy 15 days before the refill date, or make an appointment via ‘Macao One Account’ and collect the medicine by presenting the QR code at the medication collection counter of the ‘Specialist Outpatient Pharmacy’ during office hours within 7 working days starting from the appointment date, in which case there is no need to take a queue ticket and wait for medicine dispensary.   3. Prescription printed with letter “S” represents that the prescribed item is a sample medicine. Supply of sample medicine is subject to stock availability, thus pharmacy cannot ensure regular supply.
  4. Prescription printed with letters “HP” is supposed to be dispensed and purchased from community pharmacies. If the medicines are unavailable, you may be referred to specialist outpatient pharmacy for further assistance.
  5. If the prescribed medicine is not enlisted in hospital formulary, this non-formulary medicine should undergo the process of application, approval and purchasing prior to dispensing.
  6. If the prescribed medicine is a pharmaceutical preparation where it takes time to be prepared, staff from the pharmacy will make an appointment date and time for collection.
  7. When the stock level of the prescribed medicines is running low, the medicines may need to be refilled few more times according to the situation.
  8. Patients with special needs may apply for exemption from Staged Supply Service. Patients shall submit the required supporting documents to the Registration Office at CHCSJ lobby or Health Centers for application, or apply online.

Status Enquiry and Result Collection

  1. Once the CHCSJ Specialist Outpatient Pharmacy has prepared the medications, patients who have account on the “Macao One Account” mobile app and turn on the notifications, will receive a push notification from the “Macao One Account” mobile app, informing them to collect the medications at the designated dispensing counter at the Specialist Outpatient Pharmacy.
  2. Your queue number will be displayed on the screen outside Specialist Outpatient Pharmacy when the medicines are ready to collect. You can also trace your queue number by downloading the app of SSM on your phone (IOS / Android): ‘Inquiry of waiting’ – ‘Outpatient pharmacy waiting updates’, where you can then scan the QR code to have more information.

  1. Bring the valid prescription to registration to endorse or complete the payment. (If the prescription has already been endorsed with “Exemption from payment”, the prescription can be handed directly to ER pharmacy for dispensing.)
  2. Hand in the prescription to ER pharmacy for dispensing.
  3. Wait at the waiting area until being called.
  4. Collect medicine from ER pharmacy.

Documents required upon collection:

1. Valid prescriptions: Prescriptions with letters “ER” printed on top.

2. Patient’s medical card

3. Patient’s Macau identity card

4. Others:

  • Healthcare card (applicable for government employee or their family members)
  • Medical card (applicable for the staff of constitutional union with the government health department)

Remarks/Notes for Application

  1. “ER” prescription must be collected within the validated date and time stated on the prescription from Emergency department pharmacy ONLY.
  2. Convention prescriptions should be collected from CHCSJ assigned community pharmacies.
  3. If the prescription is printed with letter “H” where it is an outpatient hospital prescription, it should be collected from CHCSJ specialist outpatient pharmacy within opening hours.
  4. All ER prescriptions are printed with the validated date and time. They must be dispensed within this validated timeframe from ER pharmacy. Once it is expired, it is no longer valid for dispensing.
