Service Introduction
In accordance with Law no. 7/2003 (Foreign Trade Law) amended by Law no. 3/2016, Administrative Regulation no. 28/2003 (Regulations on Foreign Trade Activities) amended by Administrative Regulation no. 19/2016, and Administrative Regulation no. 35/2021 (Organization and functioning of the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau), and the Chief Executive Dispatch no. 209/2021, providing that the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau is vested with the power of issuing prior authorisation for the import of goods as listed in category B, Table B1 (Table of Importation), Annex II of the same dispatch, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, proprietary Chinese medicines, Chinese materia medicas, traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces, traditional Chinese medicine extracts, raw materials of pharmaceuticals, reagents for diagnostic or laboratory use, as well as infant formula milk powder.
Service targets and eligibilities: Depending on the category of goods, the import application should be submitted by the company holding the “Licence for Firms for Import, Export and Wholesale of Pharmaceutical Products” or “License for import, export and wholesale of products used in traditional Chinese medicine” issued by the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau, or by the businesses holding the “Registration for Controlled Foreign Trade Operations” issued by the Economic and Technological Development Bureau.
Result of application: The Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau will issue a prior authorisation for the import of goods to applicants that meet the approval requirements.
