1. Conditions under which blood donation is not allowed

  • Common reasons for temporary deferral of blood donation:
    1. Insufficient sleep the night before donating blood
    2. Having a cold or symptoms of influenza
    3. Have had dental treatment or oral surgery within the past 3 days
    4. Have taken antibiotics within the past 1 week
    5. Have had a tattoo or ear piercing within the past 12 months
    6. Have travelled to a dengue fever endemic region within the past 12 months
    7. Have undergone endoscopy within the past 4 months (such as endoscopy for the stomach, intestine or nasopharynx etc.)

2. Enquiring for and obtaining a blood donation report

During blood donation you may check a box and choose to receive your blood donation report by post; collect it yourself or look it up online.
