Remarks / Guidance Notes
- To ensure that the child has sufficient rest before the assessment, parents should request the child to go to bed earlier on the night before the assessment; ask the child to take breakfast or lunch before the assessment, so that he / she will be in a better condition for the assessment. If the child is sick before or on the assessment day (e.g. having a fever or not sleeping well the night before the assessment), parents can call the Centre during office hours or go to the Centre in person to tell the staff there about the child’s health condition so that the staff can decide whether the child is suitable to take the assessment or not.
- For a child who has difficulty adjusting to a strange environment, parents should help him / her familiarise with the new environment by taking him / her to the nearby area of the Centre before the assessment day. On the assessment day, brief the child on the assessment procedures in advance and take the child to the Centre 10 minutes earlier to allow him / her to become familiar with the Centre’s environment so as to reduce the child’s anxiety about being in a strange place.
- On the assessment day, parents should bring some small toys or books for the child to play or read while waiting for the assessment. Besides, parents should also bring a jacket for the child in case it is needed.
- If the child has hearing or visual impairment, parents are advised to bring the child’s glasses, hearing aids or other assistive devices that enable the child to receive the information effectively during the assessment.
- To allow the assessor to have sufficient time to understand the child’s abilities, parents are advised not to arrange other activities for themselves and the child in the morning or afternoon of the assessment day.
- In order to enable the assessor to effectively understand the child’s abilities, parents and school personnel should submit all the required documents and questionnaires before the assessment.
- To safeguard personal privacy, photographing, recording and videoing in the assessment venue are strictly prohibited without permission of the assessor.
- All the assessment materials are protected by copyrights, parents and school personnel should not photocopy and / or store these materials by any means.
