Service Description

Application procedures for naturalization, renunciation, restoration of chinese nationality, nationality selection and change of nationality.

Service Targets and Eligibility

1.Application for Naturalization of Chinese Nationality

•  Foreign nationals or stateless persons who are Macao SAR permanent residents of the Macao SAR;
• The application may also include the applicant’s spouse and minor children.

2.Application for Renunciation of Chinese Nationality

• Macao SAR residents with Chinese nationality;
• Being near relatives of foreign nationals, or having settled abroad, or having other legitimate reasons
• The application may also include the applicant’s spouse and minor children.

3.Application for Restoration of Chinese Nationality

• Residents of the Macao SAR;
• Foreign nationals who once held Chinese nationality;
• The application may also include the applicant’s spouse and minor children.

4.Application for Selection of Nationality

• Residents of the Macao SAR of both Chinese and Portuguese descent;
• The application may also include the applicant’s spouse and minor children.

5.Application for Change of Nationality

• Original residents of Macao with Chinese nationality that have returned to Macao before or after the establishment of the Macao SAR;
• If the above-mentioned original Macao SAR resident with Chinese nationality also possesses other foreign nationality, he/she can request to change his/her nationality into other foreign nationality. However, he/she will no longer possess Chinese nationality at the time he/she makes such change;
• The application may also include the applicant’s spouse and minor children.
