Service Introduction

Service group: Those intending to be tour guides and conforming the following qualifications

Definition of tour guide: Tour guide is a professional who welcomes, informs and escorts tourists in Macao, against remuneration.

Eligibility for application: The exercise of the profession of tour guide depends upon:

  1. Residence in Macao; and
  2. Approval in a qualifying course offered by Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (UTM); or
  3. Approval in a diploma or bachelor degree course in the field of tourism offered by UTM or by other Macao higher education institution or obtained in a higher education institution outside Macao if accepted by UTM (those who meet this requirement and possess approved qualification must take refreshment seminar on tourism, culture and economy supervised by the UTM and pass relevant examinations);
  4. Registered with Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and issuance of a Tour Guide card;
  5. Contractual link with a travel agency.
