Experts gather at UM to discuss future electricity supply for smart city

A seminar on future electricity supply for smart city was recently held at the University of Macau (UM) Institute of Collaborative Innovation. The event was organised by UM’s State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM). During the event, experts and scholars from around the world had an in-depth discussion on technologies for the future development of smart energy supply system for smart city.

In his speech, UM Rector Yonghua Song said that UM established China’s first state key lab in the Internet of Things for smart cities. The lab will further enhance the quality of research studies in this field and will develop basic theories, algorithms, and systems, in order to provide technical support in the development of future smart cities for Macao, the Greater Bay Area, and other parts of China. Ensuring a clean electricity supply with high efficiency and high reliability will be one of the key research areas.

During the seminar, Prof Wang Xiuli from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Prof Wang Furong from the University of Bath, and Mr Lee Chi Chio from CEM each gave a presentation. They shared their latest research results in the fields of power system reliability evaluation, future 3D transformation of distribution power network and smart grid platform for Macao with participating experts, scholars, engineers, and students.
