Consumer Council released specific price survey results on tissue papers, OTC drugs, and milk powder

Consumer Council conducted its specific price survey on tissue papers, over-the-counter drugs, and milk powder on 30 December for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. The mentioned survey has been uploaded to the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), it is also available on the Council’s“Macao Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, as well as on the Council’s WeChat account page.


Transport and communications statistics for November 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles in Macao totalled 240,164 as at end-November 2019, a slight increase of 0.4% year-on-year. Light automobiles (109,242) and heavy motorcycles (99,530) rose by 1.3% and 2.2% respectively, whereas light motorcycles (24,068) went down by 8.4%. New registration of motor vehicles in November dropped by 10.5% year-on-year to 1,221, with heavy motorcycles (565) declining by 24.8% while light automobiles (628) rising by 14.8%. In the first eleven months of 2019, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 14.4% year-on-year to 11,350. Number of traffic accidents grew by 15.8% year-on-year to 1,245 in November, and number of injuries totalled 375. In the first eleven months, there were 12,517 traffic accidents; number of victims added up to 4,097 and 8 of them were killed.



Senado Library reopens to the public on 2 January

The Senado Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau has concluded its renovation works, including the repainting of the interior walls and the renovation of power system and air-conditioning equipment, and will be open to the public again on 2 January (Thursday). The Library, located in the IAM Building at No. 163 Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, opens from 1pm to 8pm from Mondays to Saturdays. For enquiries, please call IC at 2856 7576 during opening hours.


Deputy Commissioners and Chief of the Cabinet of the CCAC Take Office

The two Deputy Commissioners of the Commission Against Corruption, Ao Ieong Seong and Lam Chi Long as well as the Chief of the Cabinet, Chan In Chio took office on 27th December. The Commissioner Against Corruption Chan Tsz King presided over the inauguration ceremony. The Commissioner hoped that the personnel of the CCAC would continue to perform duties with dedication and diligence and work in tandem with one another to make the work of the CCAC successful.


Opening the door to success : Macao Polytechnic Institute 2020 Open Day Kicks off on Saturday

On Saturday, 4 January, the Macao Polytechnic Institute will kick off its annual Open Day on its main campus on Gomes Street featuring a wide array of activities. These activities offer a great opportunity for senior high school students, social elites and the general public to further understand MPI’s educational philosophy, teaching and research capabilities, scientific and creative development, and its academic programs via various formats including lectures, demonstrations, first-hand experience, talent show performances and booth games. In particular, these activities will provide a comprehensive overview of MPI’s campus facilities, courses, teaching and research achievements to the graduating high school students and other young people aspiring to apply to enrol in MPI’s programs, as well as clear guidelines for the application process.


‘A Pearl of the Sea – Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution’ Opens, Showcasing the History of Macao’s Urban Development

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China, the Macao Museum of the Cultural Affairs Bureau is hosting ‘A Pearl of the Sea – Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution’. The opening ceremony was held at the Macao Museum at 6:30 p.m. today (27 December) and officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR, Mok Ian Ian; Deputy Chief of the Division of Culture and Sports of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Xin Jianbo; Member of the Cultural Heritage Committee, Ip Tat; President of the Macau Artist Society, Lok Hei; and Acting Head of the Department of Exhibitions and Museums of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR, Loi Chi Pang. The exhibition will be open to the general public from today until 19 April 2020.



MGTO completes Study on Indian visitors in Macao

In pursuit of a wider diversity of visitor source markets from different nationalities, Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has carried out a range of studies on visitors from various international markets. This year, the Office has completed the “Study on Indian Visitors in Macao” to gain a deeper understanding of the common attributes and travel behavior of Indian visitors in Macao. The findings will serve as a basis for the Office to implement its destination marketing strategies and initiatives for broader publicity effect towards the Indian market.
