Online Book Shop of the Cultural Affairs Bureau launches annual promotion

In order to facilitate readers to purchase Cultural Affairs Bureau’s publications with ease via Internet, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) launched its Online Book Shop last year, and it has been well received by local and overseas readers since its establishment. On the occasion of its first anniversary of the Online Book Shop service, IC launches special offers on the purchase of IC’s publications. Readers may enjoy a 20% discount on a wide selection of best-selling books and Review of Culture through the Online Book Shop from today until 30 November, so as to further promote reading.



“hush! 2021 Concerts” presents a variety of music workshops

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, the “hush! 2021 Concerts” will be held from 6 to 28 November. During the event, four different music workshops will be held and all the residents who are interested in music creation are welcome to participate and collaborate with musicians to promote the development of local pop music.

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office, the “hush! 2021 Concerts” will be held from 6 to 28 November. This year’s concert is themed “musical feasts along the coast”, alluding to the fact that Macao is a coastal city which embraces different cultures from all over the world, imbuing its pop music with the characteristics of openness and diversity which create a unique cultural landscape of its own. Over 50 local bands, musicians and art groups will jointly present this annual pop music extravaganza in Macao across a number of events performed on various stages along the coast.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau offers outdoor musical events to let audience enjoy music from a different angle

In November and December, the Cultural Affairs Bureau will launch a variety of arts and cultural activities to bring joy and vitality to the city. Among these are three outdoor musical events, namely Interactive Musical Graffiti, Outdoor Screening: Music and Movie Nights and Journey in Musical Corners, aiming to bring music to every corner of the city and offer the public a rich and diverse musical experience.


Wages of construction workers and prices of construction materials for the 3rd quarter of 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average daily wage of construction workers increased by 2.7% quarter-to-quarter to MOP789 in the third quarter of 2021. The average daily wages of local workers (MOP973) and non-resident workers (MOP699) went up by 1.1% and 5.1% respectively.


Inauguration of the “Historical Archives Exhibition on Leprosariums in Macao” – Reopening of the Village of Our Lady of Ka Ho on Saturday

In order to showcase the achievements of the restoration, use and revitalisation of heritage buildings to the public, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) will present the “Land of Hope – Historical Archives Exhibition on Leprosariums in Macao” – Reopening of the Village of Our Lady in Ka Ho. The opening ceremony will be held on 6 November (Saturday) at 2pm, at the Village of Our Lady in Ka Ho. The exhibition is open on a permanent basis from the same day and the public is welcome to visit.


Single-day visitor arrivals rebounded to 30,000 in Macao last Friday (29 October)

Under the stable pandemic situation while marketing efforts gradually pay off, Macao has seen a steady rebound in visitor arrivals in recent days. The single-day volume of visitors went up to 30,000 at the end of last week. 30,512 visitor arrivals were recorded last Friday (29 October).


UM researchers successfully develop novel nanomedicine to inhibit tumour growth

A research team led by Assistant Professor Dai Yunlu in the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has designed and synthesised a novel nonomedicine, which can evoke potent anti-tumour immunoresponse, inhibit tumour growth, and stimulate long-lasting immunological memory. The study is a new breakthrough in melanoma immunotherapy and proposes a promising anti-tumour strategy. The research findings have been published in the internationally renowned journal Nature Communications.
