IPIM and Macao Industry Partners Attends The 86th UFI Global Congress and Promotes UFI Asia-Pacific Conference 2020 in Macao

The 86th UFI Global Congress took place from 6 to 8 November at the Avani+ Bangkok Riverside Hotel, Thailand. It was hosted by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (Union des Foires Internationales, UFI). President of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute Irene Va Kuan Lau, participated in the event. She exchanged views with nearly 500 members of renowned international convention and exhibition organisations from over 50 countries and regions, getting to know the latest development trends of the industry; ones that could help develop further the meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) industry in Macao, as well as bringing the city’s industry on par with international standards. IPIM also took the opportunity to promote the UFI Asia-Pacific Conference 2020 that will be held in Macao in March next year.



“Red December – Exhibition of Carlos Marreiros” inaugurated

“Red December – Exhibition of Carlos Marreiros”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on Friday, 8 November, at 6:45pm, at the Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Edmund Ho Hau Wah; the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Wan Sucheng; the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao, Paulo Cunha Alves; the Member of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, Ho King Lun; the Member of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR, Angela Leong On Kei; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government, Mok Ian Ian; the President of the Council of the Macanese Communities, Leonel Alberto Alves; and the artist Carlos Marreiros. The exhibition is held until 13 February 2020 and is open to the general public.


Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Ip Peng Kin leads Macao delegation to attend the 4th Global Mazu Culture Forum on Meizhou Island

Chief of Office of the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Ip Peng Kin, led a delegation from Macao to participate in the 4th Global Mazu Culture Forum (“the Forum”) and the 21st China - Meizhou Mazu Cultural Tourism Festival on Meizhou Island in Putian, Fujian Province from 31st October to 2nd November, and met with Member of the Standing Committee and Chief of the United Front Work Department of the Putian Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Zheng Chunhong, and Deputy Director of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, Liu Lianghui, among other officials during the visit.



Consumer Council attended OECD Committee on Consumer Policy 98th Session in France

Macao Consumer Council participated in the 98th Session of the OECD Committee on Consumer Policy (CCP) held in Paris, France. Committee members assessed and provided comments on the implementation of consumer policy. This relevant information helps the Council to enhance consumer protection work.


Residential property price index for July – September 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the overall residential property price index for July - September 2019 decreased by 0.1% over the previous period (June - August 2019) to 267.6. The index for the Macao Peninsula (268.6) dropped by 0.2% while that for Taipa & Coloane (263.2) rose by 0.5%.


Central Government provides 15 new steps to support Macao’s role in Greater Bay Area development

The Central Government has announced 15 new steps – policies and measures – to support Macao’s contribution in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).



Consumer Council released 2nd supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the first-half of November on 7 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.
