IFTM students reinventing old brands
Year 4 students from the Macao Institute for Tourism Studies supported Aphelion Media Limited on a project to help Tong Iec Pak Fa Fui, a company that specialises in preserve fruits, soya sauce and vinegar. The project aims to develop ideas for new product development and to rejuvenate its hundred-and-sixteen years old brand. This project belongs to a government scheme initiated by the Economics Bureau to help established old brands to enhance their competitiveness.

UM to hold Ceremony for Conferment of Honorary and Higher Degrees this Saturday
The University of Macau (UM) will hold the Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary and Higher Degrees 2019 on Saturday 9 November at 4:00pm in the University Hall. During the ceremony, the university will confer honorary doctorates on Qiao Xiaoyang, Lau Sin Peng, Dennis Lo Yuk Ming, and Roy Chung Chi Ping, in recognition of their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to social development and education. In addition, PhD degrees and master’s degrees will be presented at the ceremony.

Monetary and financial statistics – September 2019
According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply continued to grow in September with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, both resident deposits and loans increased from a month earlier.

Parents may enrol online for the Explanatory Sessions for the “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time”
The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the “DSEJ”) continues to optimise the “Central Registration for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time” (hereinafter referred to as the “Central Registration”). In order to help parents learn about the details of the “Central Registration”, The DSEJ will hold several explanatory sessions on it from 23rd November, 2019. Parents may enrol for the explanatory sessions on the DSEJ website from November. During the period of “Central Registration” for the academic year 2020 / 2021, parents enrolling their children (who were born between 2015 and 2017) in infant education in Macao for the first time can check the enrolment information of different schools on the DSEJ website and register their children online. Parents do not need to queue up at schools to obtain and submit application forms, nor do they need to print out the “Registration Slip”.

Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau relocates Central Book Stack Retrieval services temporarily suspended
In order to optimise and consolidate the storage space of the Central Book Stack of the Macao Public Library under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), the Central Book Stack, originally located in Edifício Industrial Tong Lei on Avenida do Almirante Lacerda, will be relocated to the Multifunctional Government Building on Lot O1 in Pac On, Taipa. The new space is currently undergoing interior renovation after which some 400,000 items, including books and audio-visual materials originally stored in the old Central Book Stack, will be re-shelved in the new location. The reservation services for books and audio-visual materials of the Central Book Stack will be suspended from 11 November (Monday) until the relocation has been completed, and the retrieval services will also be suspended until further notice. Meanwhile, retrieval services for books and audio-visual materials from branch libraries will remain available.
