Painting exhibition by Liu Mengkuan inaugurated at Handover Gifts Museum of Macao

The exhibition “Bathing in the Spring Breeze – Paintings by Liu Mengkuan”, organized by the Macao Museum of Art (MAM), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was inaugurated on 26 July, at 6:30pm, at the Special Exhibition Gallery of the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao. The opening ceremony was held in a lively atmosphere and was officiated by the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the Assistant of the Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity and Culture of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao S.A.R., Shao Bin; the Chancellor of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Liu Chak Wan; the Chairman of The Wharf (Holdings) Limited, Stephen Ng; the Chairman of the Healthy China Medical and Pharmaceutical Foundation Limited, Anthony Wu; the Executive Vice President of the Yu Un Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macao, Sio Chun Iun; and the artist Liu Mengkuan. During the opening ceremony, the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau presented the certificate of appreciation to the artist Liu Mengkuan for his donation of work entitled Roaster on the Rock to the Macao Museum of Art of the Cultural Affairs Bureau.


Secretary Wong: Guangdong visit inspires Macao young people to innovate and help national development

The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, said a four-day visit to Guangdong Province by a group of Macao young people would foster innovative thinking and technological development in Macao in order to advance the city’s contribution to overall national development.




“Art Macao” showcases the diversity of contemporary Chinese Art

Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, “Art Macao”, a mega international arts and cultural event, is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office and co-organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, the Higher Education Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM), Wynn Macau, Limited, Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited and several foreign consulates, presenting various kinds of art and cultural activities including a number of timeless large-scale exhibitions of contemporary Chinese art, which showcase different art forms and have high ornamental value.


Macao conducts a 5-week aerial mapping task

To collect the latest geographical data of the Macao territory, Macao will conduct a five-week aerial mapping task with low-flying operations to be performed with the unmanned vehicle and the helicopter.


UM summer camp helps secondary school students explore biomedical technology

The Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp 2019, organised by the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), attracted a total of 60 high school students from 30 local secondary schools. With the theme of ‘Biological Detectives’, the camp allowed students to explore the world of biomedical research and learn about various biomedical technologies through case investigation.


Employment survey for April-June 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the general unemployment rate for April-June 2019 held steady from the previous period (March-May 2019), at 1.7%; the unemployment rate of local residents was 2.3%, down by 0.1 percentage point. Meanwhile, the underemployment rate remained unchanged at 0.4%.
