Macao Polytechnic Institute held online Forum to promote the Sino-Portuguese academic cooperation in the Bay Area era

In order to facilitate the academic exchanges and cooperation between China and Portugal in the Greater Bay Area era, and promote the connection and integration of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with the national academic network of the Lusophone countries, the Centre for Portuguese Studies of the Macao Polytechnic Institute held the“The Greater Bay Area Portuguese Language and Sino-Portuguese Academic Cooperation” online Forum on April 20. Famous experts from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Lusophone countries gathered in the cloud to provide suggestions for the academic development of the Greater Bay Area and Sino-Portuguese academic cooperation. The forum attracted the enthusiastic participation of many teachers and students, researchers from higher education institutions, and other researchers in various related fields from all over the world.


“Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts” opens on Thursday featuring a wide range of local artworks

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts” will be inaugurated on 29 April (Thursday), at 6:30pm, at the Macao Contemporary Art Center - Navy Yard No.1, featuring exceptional artworks by several local artists. All are welcome to visit the event.


Consumer Council organized talk to introduce “Consumer Online” and “Price Information Platform”

The Consumer Council organized a talk to introduce its “Consumer Online” online platform and “Macao Price Information Platform” for around 100 participants from the Women’s General Association of Macau. The simple and easy procedures for using the two platforms, the contents and all the functions were mentioned on the talk and participants’ inquiries and suggestions were responded.


First tour groups set off this morning for “Stay, Dine and See Macao”

The “Stay, Dine and See Macao” project is open for applications starting from 15 April, featuring six local tour itineraries and hotel experience at the first stage. The project subsidizes interested permanent/nonpermanent Macao SAR residents to explore Macao, attracting many applicants so far. The first batch of local tour groups set off today (25 April).


Macao devoting all-out effort to bolster Greater Bay Area development

The Chief Executive, Mr Ho Iat Seng, said advancement of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area would always be at the forefront of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government’s work. He added all-out effort would be made to support strategic decisions taken by the Leading Group for the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.


MPI Seniors Academy and Jiangmen Veteran Cadre University Co-organize Joint Exhibition of Art Works

Macao Polytechnic Institute Seniors Academy (ACS) has been striving to forge ahead and broaden the direction of teaching since its establishment and has been keen to exchange experience with educational institutions of a similar nature in the Mainland and other countries overseas. In order to encourage the elderly to explore their potentials, promote the spirit of “a Sense of Worthiness among the Elderly”, as well as to enhance the interaction with the universities for the elderly in the Greater Bay Area, ACS specially invited Jiangmen Veteran Cadre University, which is known for its long history and excellent teaching staff, to co-organize the “Elderly’s Elegant Demeanour in Greater Bay Area” – a series of joint exhibition of art works. The calligraphy, Chinese painting, Western painting and photography of the students from the two schools will be exhibited online for the appreciation of all sectors of the society. The theme of the exhibition is to spread positive energy and showcase beautiful things in the Greater Bay Area. The healthy content and elegant taste reflect the positive spirit of the contemporary Chinese elderly.


Consumer price index (CPI) for March 2021

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI for March 2021 (102.29) went down by 0.97% year-on-year, which was 0.2 percentage points higher than the 0.95% drop in February.


MUR to start flat selection process for home swap housing on Lot P in May

Macau Urban Renewal Company (MUR) will start the flat selection process for home swap housing units on Lot P in Areia Preta in May. MUR will send an SMS notification to eligible applicants to attend an explanatory meeting. In the meantime, a registered mail will be sent out to notify them the date, time and procedure of flat selection.


“Macao Library Week 2021” kicks off on 23 April Reading in the city

Jointly organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the University of Macau Library and the Macao Library and Information Management Association, the “Macao Library Week 2021” is held from 12 April to 16 May. The opening ceremony was held on the “World Book Day”, 23 April (Friday), at the Old Court Building, followed by the activities “4.23 Reading in the City” and “Thirty Minutes Read in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao” 2021, organized and co-organized by the respective entities. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, one of the reading leaders, led the participants to read and shared her reading experiences during the event, and with multiple N venues and “Reading Points”, all participants can read in the same time, imbuing the city with the spirit of reading.


The Macao Polytechnic Institute publishes A Course in International Chinese

The Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) has been forging ahead to strengthen academic disciplines, develop teaching materials and facilitate the development of language talents. Edited by Professor Lei Heong Iok, A Course in International Chinese, Elementary Level, Volume 1, has been published by the Beijing Commercial Press. It comprises a Student’s Book, an Exercise Book and a Teacher’s Book. As the first set of teaching materials on International Chinese developed in Macao and the first of its kind to present its content in Chinese, Portuguese and English, the publication of the coursebook plays a positive role in the development of International Chinese Education in Macao and the enhancement of the quality of teaching Chinese to learners from Portuguese-speaking countries.
