External merchandise trade statistics for April 2019
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that total merchandise export for April 2019 amounted to MOP952 million, down by 12.9% year-on-year. Value of re-exports (MOP845 million) decreased by 11.4%, with that of Diamond & diamond jewellery falling by 56.6%. Value of domestic exports (MOP106 million) dropped by 22.7%, with that of Tobacco decreasing by 38.5%. Total merchandise import rose by 4.7% year-on-year to MOP6.96 billion, of which imports of Beauty, cosmetic & skin-care products, Garments & footwear and Food & beverages expanded by 46.2%, 21.2% and 14.0% respectively; meanwhile, imports of Mobile phones, Construction materials and Gold jewellery declined by 37.3%, 31.6% and 13.3% respectively. Merchandise trade deficit in April totalled MOP6.01 billion.

Transport and communications statistics for April 2019
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that licensed motor vehicles totalled 238,289 as at end-April, down by 176 year-on-year; light motorcycles (25,027) dropped by 9.8% whereas light automobiles (107,882) and heavy motorcycles (97,889) rose by 1.0% and 1.8% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in April declined by 26.1% year-on-year to 906, with heavy motorcycles (481) and light automobiles (385) falling by 24.1% and 27.8% respectively. In the first four months of 2019, new registration of motor vehicles decreased by 25.7% year-on-year to 4,000. Number of traffic accidents dropped by 9.6% year-on-year to 932 in April, involving 338 victims and 1 of them was killed. In the first four months, there were 4,116 traffic accidents and 1,428 traffic casualties.

The launch ceremony of the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index 2019 and the Annual Report on Development of the Belt and Road Construction (2019) was held at the “10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (IIICF) today (30 May). In order to maximise the influence of Macao’s role as the “Commercial and Trade Co-operation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries”, information of Mainland China’s enterprisers’ involvement in Portuguese-speaking countries (PSC) infrastructure development has been introduced in the reports, providing statistics and evaluation of prospect of infrastructure co-operation for enterprises from China, “Belt and Road” countries and Macao.

Steering Committee of International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum is Founded in Celebration of 10th Anniversary of IIICF
The Steering Committee of International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum was established on the first day of the 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF). The Committee will uphold the principle of “government as guidance, enterprises as mainstay and market as operating gear”. Without changing the operating mechanism and model, the Committee will offer guidance, support and services to the IIICF regarding the sustainable development, so as to ensure and pillar the organisation of the IIICF.

Mainland China-Macao Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council is Formed
With the support and guidance of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the Mainland China-Macao Belt and Road Business and Professional Services Council was collaboratively established by the Macao Chamber of Commerce and the China International Contractors Association. A launch ceremony was held on the first day of the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF). The Council is formed with the objective of supporting Macao enterprises in exerting their strengths and joining the country’s momentum in a pro-actively manner.

Grand Opening of the 10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum in Macao
Hosted by the China International Contractors Association and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, the “10th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum” (IIICF) opened in Macao today (30 May), featuring the theme “Promoting Quality and Sustainable Development of International Infrastructure”. A huge number of government officials from Mainland China and overseas regions and over 2,000 political, commercial and academic figures from more than 750 entities hailing from over 70 countries and regions have been invited to discuss some of the hot topics and latest development of international infrastructure. Institute for Tourism Studies 2019 Graduation Ceremony
The 2019 Graduation Ceremony of Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) was held today (30 May 2019). Ceremony was officiated by Dr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Dr. Tam Chon Weng, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, and Dr. Fanny Vong, President of IFT. The Liaison Office of the Central Government, the Office of the Commissioners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, legislative council members, government officials and high school representatives, scholarship sponsors, representatives of the tourism and hospitality industry, parents and faculty members were invited to attend this ceremony.
