CE: Clear path for Macao over ‘Belt and Road’ initiative

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, today said a new agreement signed in Beijing paved a clear path for Macao’s contribution to the “Belt and Road” initiative and provided new impetus for the city’s economic development.

The Government signed today an agreement with the National Development and Reform Commission aimed at giving full play to Macao’s strengths in serving the “Belt and Road” initiative, and generating fresh competitive advantages for the city and its economy.



Announcement of the winning works of “3rd Macao Printmaking Triennial” Polish artist awarded Gold Prize out of over 1,000 entries

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the evaluation of entries for the “3rd Macao Printmaking Triennial” has been completed recently at Macao Contemporary Art Center - Navy Yard No.1. This edition of the triennial received an enthusiastic response. After a meticulous evaluation by the adjudicating panel, a total of 175 winning and finalist works were selected out of 1,097 entries.


18th Macao City Fringe Festival outreach activities introduces diverse artistic experiences

The 18th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), features a series of outreach activities, including workshops, talks, art critique and sharing sessions, bringing the audience a rich programme of activities and diverse artistic experiences.


18th Macao City Fringe Festival is themed “Extra.Ordinary”

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the 18th Macao City Fringe Festival, themed “Extra.Ordinary”, will be held from 11 to 27 January 2019, featuring a total of 18 extraordinary programmes and 10 outreach activities including workshops, talks, art critique and sharing sessions, among others, leading the audience to break through the restrictions and framework to rediscover the exceptional in everyday life.


IFT welcomes international conference on place branding

The Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) held this morning the opening ceremony for the3rd Annual Conference of the International Place Branding Association, a global association of experts composed of scholars and practitioners of place branding, city marketing, nation branding, and place management. This year’s IPBA Conference is being hosted by the Destination Branding and Marketing Group, an international conference series founded by IFT in 2005 and which has now gained wide traction and following since its establishment. The Conference – running until tomorrow (7 December) – aims to discuss the latest developments, issues, and challenges in place branding and related areas.


UM students win championships at paper plane contest five years in a row

A group of students from the Department of Electromechanical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), recently swept the top three prizes for the longest airtime in both the group category and the individual category, at the university level, at the Fourth Greater China Students Paper Plane Contest cum the Eighth Macau Paper Airplane Contest. During the event, UM students competed with more 300 students from over 30 higher education institutions and high schools in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. This is the fifth consecutive year that UM students have won championships at this contest.
