Consumer Council released 8th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of May on 29 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in São Lázaro, São Lourenço and Sé Parishes. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.


Results of survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter 2019

The Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) released results of the Survey on Manpower Needs and Wages for the first quarter of 2019. Survey coverage for this quarter comprises Manufacturing; Hotels; Restaurants; Insurance; Financial Intermediation Activities; Electricity, Gas & Water Supply; Child-care and Elderly Care. This survey excludes the self-employed, as well as insurance agents and brokers not directly employed by insurance companies.


Macao Creative Pavilion receives two outstanding awards at the 15th ICIF

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) recently organized the participation of Macao’s cultural and creative companies in the 15th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), and the Macao Creative Pavilion was awarded the “Outstanding Exhibition Award” and the “Outstanding Organization Award” at the closing and award ceremony on 20 May. It is the tenth consecutive year that the Macao Creative Pavilion has garnered these two awards.

A delegation from Tsun Jin High School in Malaysia, comprised of 19 English teachers of Chinese, Malay and Hindu ethnicities, recently visited the University of Macau (UM) for a four-day training workshop that lasted from 19 May to 22 May.


UM to confer honorary doctorate on Nobel laureate Aaron Ciechanover

The University of Macau (UM) on Wednesday 12 June will confer a Doctor of Science honoris causa degree on Prof Aaron Ciechanover, a co-recipient of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2004, in recognition of his achievements in discovering cell-controlled protein mechanism. After the ceremony, Prof Ciechanover will give a lecture titled ‘The Revolution of Personalized Medicine: Are We Going to Cure all Diseases and at What Cost’.

The press conference and signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement of “Art Macao” was held on 28 May at the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Lisboa Hotel. Under the patronage of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, the first edition of “Art Macao” is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Government Tourism Office and co-organized by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Higher Education Bureau, Galaxy Entertainment Group, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Limited, MGM, Sands China Ltd., Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, S.A. (SJM), Wynn Macau, Limited, Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited and foreign consulates, presenting a series of artistic events, including a number of international art exhibitions, performances, international youth festivals and visual arts exhibitions of Macao higher education institutions to be held from June to October. A total of 40 large-scale events will be held at 44 locations, through a multi-media and art platform, breaking the limitation of space concepts to form an arts festival of unprecedented scale and present a new brand of cultural tourism of Macao to the world.
