UM scholar receives first prize from Xiling Seal Art Society
A paper on art history, written by Associate Professor Yang Bin from the Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), received the first prize at an international forum on images, seals, and sealings organised by the Xiling Seal Art Society. This is the third consecutive year that Prof Yang has received an award from the society. In addition, Yang received approval for his nomination for the membership of the society, becoming the sixth member of the society from Macao.

Social Security Benefits and Allowances to Increase Next Year
The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) today (5 December) introduced to the Standing Committee for the Coordination of Social Affairs the proposal to increase the amount of benefits and allowances for the Social Security System from 2019, and the proposal was unanimously agreed by the employer and employee representatives of the Committee.

UM’s Confucius Institute holds first graduation ceremony for Chinese language courses
The University of Macau (UM) Confucius Institute recently held the first graduation ceremony in the 2018/2019 academic year for students from its Chinese language courses and an inauguration ceremony for its alumni association in the Black Box Theatre in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH). Some students say that the Chinese language courses offered by UM have increased their understanding of Chinese language and culture, and they believe that the alumni association will help to strengthen ties between faculty members and students from different places.
