UM, HKBU co-organise World Business Ethics Forum

The Seventh World Business Ethics Forum, co-organised by the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Business Administration and Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) School of Business, with assistance from the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was recently held in Hong Kong and Macao. Titled 'Business Ethics, Leadership and New Economy’, the event attracted nearly 100 experts, scholars, and postgraduate students from around the world.



IFT hosts Inaugural International Conference on Tourism and Retail Management

The Institute for Tourism Studies (IFT) is hosting until tomorrow (4 December) the International Conference on Tourism and Retail Management 2018 (TRMC2018). The conference – under the theme “Advances in Tourism and Retail Services” – innovatively aims to provide a niche forum to discuss the latest developments and research in these two substantial fields, both of which are becoming more and more integrated economic activities.



Macao Orchestra presents concert “New World Symphony” at St. Dominic’s Church on Friday

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents the concert “New World Symphony” under the baton of renowned conductor Julian Kovatchev from Italy, on Friday, 7 December, at 8pm, at St. Dominic’s Church. Admission to the concert is free. Tickets will be distributed at the entrance of St. Dominic’s Church one hour prior to the performance.


“Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” is unveiled to bring spectators on a magical journey from the past to future of Macao in December

Organized by Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and co-organized by Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, Cultural Affairs Bureau and Sports Bureau, “Macao Light Festival 2018 – Time Travel in Macao” is staged in Macao from 2nd to 31st December. The Festival was unveiled by an opening ceremony at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre tonight (2nd December). Held for the fourth year, the Festival dazzles along routes which connect a string of new locations. There are projection mapping shows created by local and overseas teams, light installations and interactive games besides an array of new highlights such as “Food Truck x Light” and Gastronomy Night Market in line with the 2018 Macao Year of Gastronomy, a virtual reality game as well as Cultural and Creative Night Market, among others. The event is supported by the Environmental Protection Bureau and Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) this year.



Applications for the “Cultural Ambassadors Programme — Mascot Design Contest” are open

Applications for the “Cultural Ambassadors Programme — Mascot Design Contest”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) and co-organized by the Macao Illustrators Association, are now open. The winning design will become the mascot of the Programme and promote the image of “cultural Macao” with the cultural ambassadors. Submission of works is open from 3 December 2018 to 18 January 2019. All interested parties are welcome to participate.



UM confers honorary doctorates on three distinguished individuals

The University of Macau (UM) today (1 December) held the Ceremony for the Conferment of Honorary and Higher Degrees 2018. At the ceremony, UM conferred honorary doctorates on Prof Joseph Sung Jao-yiu, Dr Anthony Lau Siu Wing, and Mr Lao Ngai Leong, for their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to social development and education.
