The exhibition ‘A Room with a View - Baptiste Rabichon Photography Exhibition’, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from its Portuguese acronym), will be launched with an opening ceremony at Tap Seac Gallery at 6:30 p.m. on 16 April (Friday). Displaying contemporary photographic works by the emerging French contemporary photographer Baptiste Rabichon, this exhibition is one of the visual art exhibitions featured in the 31^st Macao Art Festival (MAF). The first UM Industry Exchange (UMINEX), co-organised by the Department of Management and Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration, University of Macau (UM), and the Macau Greater Bay Area Human Resources Association (Macau GBAHR), was held successfully in UM’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA). According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both decreased in February 2021. With regard to the outstanding balances, RMLs rose whereas CRELs witnessed a decline.

Organized by the Sports Bureau of Macao SAR Government and the General Association of Athletics of Macau, and title-sponsored by Sands China Ltd., the 2021 Sands China Macao International 10K was held today (11 April). The Fun Run started at 7 a.m. and the 10K race started at 7:30 a.m. from Sai Van Lake Square. Chinese athletes Wang Hongwei and Yin Xiaoyu are the overall 10K men’s and women’s winners with a time of 31:35 and 37:24, respectively. Ip Seng Tou and Hoi Long won the Macao men’s and women’s athlete categories with a time of 34:28 and 38:55, respectively. The men’s and women’s winners of the Greater Bay Area categories are Zhou Shuangxi and Li Sulan.

As indicated in the “2021 Policy Address” that welfare and livelihood expenditures would not be affected by the MSAR Government’s internal financial austerity measures and the existing basic beneficial measures for the public would be continuously implemented, including Wealth Partaking Scheme. In this regard, the “Wealth Partaking Scheme 2021” has been announced through the Administrative Regulation No.9/2021, of which local permanent residents are entitled to receiving 10,000 patacas and non-permanent residents 6,000 patacas. Due to the impacts of coronavirus epidemic on the economy and livelihood in Macao, the government decides to implement the scheme earlier in April.

The University of Macau (UM) and Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently held their first forum, showing that the partnership has reached a new level. During the forum, both parties had in-depth discussions on launching joint training programmes, information technology, life sciences, and other related topics. Both parties expressed hope to combine their strengths to deepen cooperation between Guangdong and Macao, in order to develop the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into a leading international centre for technology transfer.

The University of Macau (UM) will hold a seminar titled ‘Global Governance and the Development of Relations between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries in the New Context’ on 13 April (next Tuesday). Renowned experts and scholars from Macao and the mainland will attend the seminar and discuss topics related to global governance in the new context, the Chinese path, and relations between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. The seminar will be open to the public. All are welcome.

The Consumer Council resolved a consumer dispute that took place in Macao for a tourist in Guangzhou via the mediation and arbitration mechanism of the Macao Consumer Mediation and Arbitration Centre. The convenient cross-border service of the Centre helps to increase tourists’ confidence in visiting Macao.

The Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, has organized the exhibition “Memory of the Past – Exhibition of the Macao Museum Postcards Collection”, which has attracted many visitors and tourists since its opening in September last year. In order to allow more people to view the treasures of the Macao Museum’s collection, the exhibition will be extended until 30 May, and everyone is welcome to continue to visit it.
