Moody's Maintains Macao SAR's "Aa3" Credit Ratings

Moody’s Investors Service, an international credit rating agency, announced today (22 May) to affirm Macao SAR’s long-term issuer ratings at “Aa3” with a “stable” rating outlook, which are based on the SAR Government’s strong fiscal and external positions and further progress on economic diversification.


IFT Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training, UNWTO host tourism training programme for participants from Asian countries

The IFT Global Centre for Tourism Education and Training organised a training programme on “Sustainable Tourism Planning and Destination Management” from 15 to 22 May for representatives from several Asian countries and destinations. The course was held in Macao in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).


Results of visitor expenditure survey for the 1st quarter of 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that attributable to a growth of 21.2% in visitor arrivals (10,359,758), total spending (excluding gaming expenses) of visitors in the first quarter of 2019 increased by 3.1% year-on-year to MOP16.93 billion, with that of overnight visitors (MOP12.92 billion) and same-day visitors (MOP4.01 billion) rising by 1.9% and 7.2% respectively.


Dubai-Macao TCM Exchange Program Helps Promote Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture in Dubai

The 2019 Dubai-Macao TCM Exchange Program, co-hosted by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao (GMTCM Park) and the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), was held at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Center of the Dubai Healthcare City on May 19. TCM experts from Macao and mainland China led young TCM practitioners from Macao to exchange and discuss with more than 150 prominent local healthcare professionals in Dubai, focusing on the application and development of TCM in the city. The program also provided TCM health consultations for the locals and promoted the development of TCM in Dubai.

Survey on manpower needs and wages for the 1st quarter of 2019 – Banking sector

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of full-time employees of the 27 banks in Macao increased by 224 year-on-year to 6,463 at the end of the first quarter of 2019. Analysed by occupation, there were 1,790 directors and managers, and 2,073 clerks (including 639 bank tellers).


Consumer price index (CPI) for April 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Composite CPI (115.14) for April 2019 increased by 2.77% year-on-year, down by 0.07 percentage points from the growth in March (+2.84%). The increment in April was attributable to dearer charges for eating out, higher rentals for dwellings as well as rising prices of motor cars, gasoline, vegetables and fruits.


Consumer Council released 5th supermarket price survey report of the current month

The Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ of the second-half of May on 20 May for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 14 supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo), the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app, or the Council’s WeChat account.



Campaign period starts 1 June for Chief Executive Election Committee poll

The period allowed for campaigning by the 350 candidates each seeking one of the places available on the Chief Executive Election Committee, will run from after the stroke of midnight on 1 June until midnight on 14 June.
