Local View Power A city on the silver screen

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, selected 16 brand new local projects commissioned by the latest edition of “Local View Power”. After assessing a staggering 64 proposals, the members of the jury came up with a final selection comprising nine documentaries, four short features and three short animations, all of them listed at CCM’s website. Focusing on a wide range of themes, these projects will be granted around MOP 1,200,000 attributed by a panel of three audiovisual experts. Besides a CCM representative, this edition’s jury included Ding Yuin Shan, an experienced film producer and member of the Academy for Performing Arts, and renowned critic Fung Ka Ming, both from Hong Kong.


30th Macao Arts Festival – The Oddyssey by Thalia Theater takes to the stage on Saturday and Sunday

The 30th Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), held from 3 May to 2 June, presents The Odyssey – A wandering journey based on Homer, by Thalia Theater from Germany on 18 and 19 May, at 8:00pm, at the Macao Cultural Centre Small Auditorium.


Bolstering of ties for reciprocal economic development: Macao-Portugal Joint Committee

The latest Macao-Portugal Joint Committee meeting, held in Lisbon, Portugal, concluded with consensus on the topic of fostering bilateral cooperation, including in economic and trade matters and Portuguese-language education. This was so that the two parties could achieve further reciprocal economic development.


Consumer Council attended Consumers International Summit 2019 in Portugal

Mr. Casimiro de Jesus Pinto, consultant of the Office of the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macao SAR Government, together with representatives of Macao Consumer Council attended Consumers International Summit 2019 in Portugal and participated in meetings and seminars during the Summit.






Foreign exchange reserves and nominal effective exchange rate index for the pataca – April 2019

The Monetary Authority of Macao announced today that the preliminary estimate of Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves amounted to MOP164.7 billion (USD20.39 billion) at the end of April 2019. The reserves increased by 0.9% from the revised value of MOP163.3 billion (USD20.19 billion) for the previous month. Macao SAR’s foreign exchange reserves at end-April 2019 represented 10 times the currency in circulation or 80.5% of pataca M2 at end-March 2019.
