The Museum of Taipa and Coloane History closes to the public temporarily from Tuesday

In order to improve the facilities of the museum and to provide a better and more comfortable environment for the public, the Museum of Taipa and Coloane History, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will carry out renovation works from today (20 November) and will be temporarily closed to the public from 27 November to 17 December.


Conde de S. Januário General Hospital updated the clinical condition of the injured at Macau Grand Prix

Conde de São Januário General Hospital held a press conference yesterday (19th November) evening, hosted by the Hospital’s Clinical Director Dr Lei Wai Seng, Chief of Orthopaedics Department Dr Lau Wai Lit and Consultant Orthopaedist Dr Chan Hong Mou, to update the clinical condition of those injured during the Macau Grand Prix.


DSI continues to extend location of round-the-clock self-service application and integrated kiosks

In order to respond to the development of society and the needs of Macao residents, the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) extends the location of round-the-clock self-service application for the Certificate of Criminal Record at DSI’s electronic services area on the ground floor of China Plaza and at the Islands District Public Services Centre – Seac Pai Van Station. Such extension enables residents in various districts to go through application in non-office hours. Besides, applicants can choose to collect their certificate either at DSI or at the Government Services Centre.

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 19 November for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets at Lam Mau, Patane and San Kio areas in Santo António Parish.




Macao Orchestra held concerts dedicated to French music at universities

The Macao Orchestra (OM, from the Portuguese acronym), under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presented three concerts dedicated to French music compositions at the Auditorium of the Macao Polytechnic Institute, the Student Activity Centre of the University of Macau and the Auditorium of the library building of the Macau University of Science and Technology on 15 and 17 November. The concerts were conducted and explained by OM’s Assistant Conductor, Francis Kan, in an effort to promote classical music.


UM to confer honorary doctorates on five distinguished individuals

The University of Macau (UM) will confer honorary doctorates on five distinguished individuals, namely Aaron J Ciechanover, Lao Ngai Leong, Anthony Lau Siu Wing, Joseph Sung Jao-yiu, and Wang Anyi, for their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to social development and education.


The 65th Macau Grand Prix Successfully Concluded

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture and President of the Macau Grand Prix Organizing Committee (MGPOC) Dr. Alexis Tam Chon Weng, today (November 18) announced that the 65th Macau Grand Prix had been successfully concluded and that the MGPOC will continue to follow the guidelines of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in order to stage an exciting and safe event for the public and competitors.

The 65th Macau Grand Prix was held over for four days, and Dr.Tam noted that the MGPOC had executed a successful event. He added that the event was supported by the FIA, and included three world-renowned World Cups, including the Formula 3 Grand Prix, the Macau GT Cup and WTCR, for a total of six thrilling events.

With regard to the accident during this year’s Formula 3 Grand Prix, Dr.Tam emphasized that the FIA F3 World Cup is an event recognized by the FIA. The measures implemented are in accordance with the guidelines of the FIA ​​Safety Advisor and the team leader. Following the accident, the race was temporarily suspended. After approximately 40 minutes of repairs carried out by staff, the race was able to be resumed. Dr.Tam added that Macao's circuit is 6.2 kilometers long and is world-class and challenging. It attracts drivers from all over the world to come to Macao. In the future, the MGPOC will continue to follow the guidelines of the FIA ​​and take all necessary measures to hold the event.

Mr. Pun Weng Kun, Coordinator of the MGPOC said that the MGPOC had managed the accident process and issued information in accordance with established procedures. Following the accident, the MGPOC sent information to the public and the media as soon as information was confirmed. Mr. Pun emphasized that the facilities and equipment around the track are in line with the guidelines of the FIA ​​or the International Motorcycle Federation. He added that 65 editions of the Macau Grand Prix have been held, and therefore the organizing committee has a mature and systematic procedure.

The Chief Medical Officer of the Macau Grand Prix Dr. Chan Wai Sin said that the accident at Lisboa Bend had resulted in five individuals sustaining injuries; two drivers, two photographers and one track marshal. All of them had been sent to hospital for treatment and were conscious on their way to the hospital. A Japanese driver who was amongst those injured has been discharged. In addition, the motorcycle riders who have been admitted to hospital are in stable condition and are currently recovering.

Mr. Chong Coc Veng, Coordinator of the Sporting Subcommittee, added that the FIA ​​will test the track before each Grand Prix. After the accident in Lisboa Bend, the MGPOC immediately repaired the damage and resumed the race after the FIA ​​checked the track again.
