MGTO launches 2019 training program for government tourism personnel of Portuguese-speaking countries

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), in cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macao), has unfolded the 2019 training program tailored for civil servants from tourism offices of six Portuguese-speaking countries, each with a duration of two weeks in Macao.


Office of Government Spokesperson and GCS to continue as bridge for communications, supporting and serving the media

The Government Spokesperson and Director of the Government Information Bureau (GCS), Mr Chan Chi Ping, said that the Office of the Government Spokesperson and GCS would continue developing their supporting role as a bridge to promote cooperation and communication between government departments and the media. They would also provide all necessary support for facilitating media interviews and news reporting in 2019 –a year which marked the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), and was also the occasion of the Chief Executive Election to select the next leader of the Macao SAR.


Survey on information technology usage in the household sector for 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that number of households using the Internet in 2018 increased by 6,600 year-on-year to 175,400, accounting for 90.2% of the total households. Number of households using fibre optic broadband connection continued to rise, up by 11.2% year-on-year to 117,500, taking up 67.0% of the total households using the Internet. This led to a decline of 15.6% in the number of households using fixed broadband connection (41,600).



IPIM Holds Greater Bay Area Information Exchange Session for Macao Youths Helping the Younger generation to seize changes

To work in line with the launch of the “Outline Development Plan for Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, support Macao youths in creating their own businesses in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Acting President of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) Mrs Irene Va Kuan Lau invited nearly 60 Macao’s young entrepreneurs who are currently developing businesses or intending to start businesses in the Greater Bay Area, as well as Macao students who are studying or having internship in Guangdong to the “Greater Bay Area Information Exchange Session for Macao Youths”, which was organised by IPIM and co-organised by the Guangdong Market Supervision & Administration Bureau on 18 March.


UM to hold Open Day on 14 April

The University of Macau (UM) will hold the UM Open Day on 14 April (Sunday). There will be various activities on that day, including course consultation, themed talks, recreational and sports activities, performances, fun experiments, workshops, game booths, and family-friendly games.
