Macao video mapping show in the heart of Lisbon kicks off mega tourism promotion in Portugal

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao SAR) Government, Alexis Tam, presided over the kick off of the “Experience Macao – Portugal” mega promotion launched with a spectacular Macao-themed video mapping show at the iconic Praça do Comércio in Lisbon, on Tuesday evening (March 12, Lisbon time).


UM STEM Car popularises science and technology in local schools

The Macao Base for Primary & Secondary STEM Education, established by the University of Macau (UM), has launched an On-the-Go Project, which aims to popularise science and technology in local secondary and primary schools with the aid of compact demonstration kits. So far, the UM STEM Car, a special vehicle dedicated to this purpose, has visited seven local schools, attracting more than 500 teachers and students.


Mortgage loans statistics – January 2019

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) and commercial real estate loans (CRELs) both rose in January 2019. With regard to the outstanding balance, RMLs witnessed a monthly increase whereas CRELs decreased from a month earlier.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Various functions available on website and app

Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 11 March 2019 for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets in Toi San, Ilha Verde and Fai Chi Kei areas in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) or the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app.



Plenary Work Meeting of IPIM and Investment Committee of 2019 Continuously Supporting Investors

The Investment Committee, which is composed of a number of government departments and an organisation and set up under the structure of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM), previously held its plenary work meeting of 2019. The meeting covered the discussion and follow-up on investment projects in diverse areas including hotel, manufacturing industry, dining industry and medical sector. The summation of the Committee’s work in 2018 was also made at the meeting.


UM to confer honorary doctorate on Wang Anyi

The University of Macau (UM) on 22 March will confer the Doctor of Letters honoris causa degree on Prof Wang Anyi, a renowned Chinese writer, in recognition of her achievements and contributions to Chinese literature. Following the ceremony, Prof Wang will give a lecture titled ‘Chinese-Language Literature in a Global Context’. All are welcome.


Public can participate in April civil defence exercise: Security Secretary

The Secretary for Security, Mr Wong Sio Chak, said members of the public would be able to participate in a large-scale civil defence exercise to be held in April by the Government.


Cultural Affairs Bureau and Education and Youth Affairs Bureau jointly organized educational concerts for students

The Macao Orchestra, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), a partner of the “General Art Educational Plan for High School Students” initiated by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ, from the Portuguese acronym), organized five concerts in the “Explore the World in Western Music” series from 6 to 8 March at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Under the baton of Assistant Conductor Francis Kan, the Orchestra presented a list of well-known masterpieces from different parts of the world to nearly 4,000 teachers and students from the city’s secondary schools, who gave an enthusiastic response to the performances.
