UM students win US psychology awards with Macao-themed study

Four students from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Macau (UM), won best student poster awards for their senior honours thesis poster presentations at the 2018 Convention of the American Psychological Association (APA), one of the oldest and most respected psychology associations in the world. This is the first time undergraduate students from UM’s Department of Psychology have received the best student poster awards from the APA convention, the largest annual conference in the field of psychology. The students’ supervisor is Prof Brian Hall from the same department. The poster presentations are part of Prof Hall’s ongoing public health research programme in Macao, and all the projects and data originated in Macao.


“Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” opens on Thursday

Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the “Collective Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2018” will be inaugurated on 27 September (Thursday), at 6:30pm, at the Tap Seac Gallery. The opening ceremony will be open to the general public.


Submission date for “3rd Macao Printmaking Triennial” extended until 15 October

The submission date for the “3rd Macao Printmaking Triennial”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is extended until 15 October. All interested artists are welcome to participate in this Triennial.


Macao Tourism Data plus debuts Golden Week Statistics

The Macao Tourism Data plus (“MTD plus”), an online platform of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) to indicate local tourism statistics, debuts a new spectrum of statistics, namely the Golden Week Statistics and the provisional statistical data during the Golden Weeks, to familiarize the public with the trends of visitations to Macao during these periods.


Visitor arrivals for August 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that visitor arrivals totalled 3,403,503 in August 2018, up by 12.2% month-to-month and 18.7% year-on-year. Overnight visitors (1,800,246) and same-day visitors (1,603,257) grew by 16.3% and 21.6% respectively year-on-year. The average length of stay of visitors dropped by 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.2 days, and that of overnight visitors and same-day visitors stayed at 2.2 days and 0.2 day respectively.


IFT launches student exchange programme with FERRANDI Paris

IFT is partnering with FERRANDI Paris – The French School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management to launch an exchange programme for bachelor degree students. The scheme is to start next year.


Commemorative postmark cancellation service of "Celebration of the 69th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People's Republic of China"

To celebrate the 69th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China, Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announces that a Temporary Post Counter will be set up at our Philatelic Shop located at Macao Post Headquarters on 1st October 2018, from 9:00 to 17:30 providing the commemorative postmark cancellation service for the “Celebration of the 69th Anniversary of the Establishment of the People’s Republic of China”.
