CE to visit Beijing for talks on advancing Greater Bay Area development

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, will visit on Thursday (28 February) to Beijing, where he will attend a meeting – to be held on Friday (1 March) – of the Central Government’s leading group for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).




UM honorary doctor Joseph Sung gives talk on healthcare and education in the era of artificial intelligence

The University of Macau (UM) today (22 February) held a UM Doctor honoris causa Lecture, titled ‘Healthcare and Education in the Era of Artificial Intelligence’. Prof Joseph Sung, an honorary doctor of UM and a world-renowned scientist, was the keynote speaker. The talk attracted many UM students, secondary school teachers and students, experts, scholars, industry practitioners, and prominent members of the community. During the talk, Prof Sung envisioned a future where artificial intelligence is inextricably linked to one’s everyday life and what one can do to ensure healthy development physically, emotionally, and spiritually in an era of artificial intelligence.


FBA earns prestigious AACSB Accreditation

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) has earned accreditation from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), becoming the first business school in Macao to be accredited by the association. The accreditation shows recognition of the FBA’s pursuit of continuous improvement in teaching and research as well as its calibre as a leading business school in the world.


UM’s microelectronics research team wins awards at international conference

A team from the University of Macau (UM) State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI and Institute of Microelectronics presented their research findings at the 66th International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) held from 17 February to 21 February in San Francisco, the United States. Eight papers from UM were accepted at this year’s conference, ranking the university second in the world in microelectronics research, along with Mediatek and the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, next only to Intel. This shows international recognition of UM and its leading position in the field in Asia.


Electronic counting of votes affirmed for CE Election Committee membership process

Electronic counting of votes is again to be used in the process for selecting part of the membership of the Chief Executive Election Committee, in order to expedite the counting procedure.


The Public Forum on "Smart Tourism, Smart Destinations" held at Institute for Tourism Studies

On 22 February, Macao’s Institute for Tourism Studies’ Tourism Research Centre (ITRC) held a Public Forum on "SMART TOURISM, SMART DESTINATIONS". The forum was organised by IFT with the aim of discussing developments in and challenges to the deployment ofsmart and E-tourism technologies for Macao and the Greater Bay Area. The Forum is part of IFT’s continuing engagement with and advancing of its various Greater Bay Area initiatives in the areas of tourism training, education, and research.
