18th Macao City Fringe Festival was concluded successfully
The 18th Macao City Fringe Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was concluded successfully on 27 January. This rich art feast featuring a total of 18 wonderful programmes and 10 extended activities during 17 consecutive days earned an enthusiastic support from the public. This edition of the Macao City Fringe Festival, themed “Extra.Ordinary”, featured artists from all over the world who led the audience to break through the restrictions and framework to rediscover the exceptional in everyday life.

Cartography and Cadastre Bureau organizes "Surveying and Geo-Information Technology Training Course"
Urban information management and intelligent application are the current inevitable trends. In response to the future development needs in Macao, promoting the construction of Smart City as well as the analysis and application in various public services through the Big-data technologies to provide scientific data support for various decisions, Cartography and Cadastre Bureau invited the professors from “The Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University” to hold “Surveying and Geo-Information Technology Training Course” on 13 to 14 of December 2018. The sessions were based on “Urban Big Data and Utility Data Management”, which topics included “Latest developments on Urban Informatics and Smart City Researches”, “Sensing and Enabling Cities through Big Data”, “Geostatistics and exploratory spatial data analysis” and “Utility Data Management and Application of Urban Big Data Analytics”. In this two-day training, the lecturers explained the theories together with practical cases to introduce the integration and frontier development direction of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) and also discussed the application of High Definition Map in the development trend of smart cities, as well as shared the achievements of applications in Smart City by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and interactively explained how to take advantage of Big-data for environmental analysis and ambient sensing and internet of things. Finally, they presented the mathematical models, geographic information system (GIS) in utility network and the application of Urban Big-Data Analytics as the conclusion.

Applications for the 37th Macao Young Musicians Competition open in March
In order to actively promote the development of classical music in Macao, encourage young local musicians to explore their musical potential, and provide them valuable stage experience and learning opportunities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organises the 37th Macao Young Musicians Competition between 13 July 2019 and 4 August 2019. Applications will be open from 4 to 10 March 2019. All interested eligible individuals are welcome to participate.

Company statistics for the 4th quarter of 2018
Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,360 new companies were incorporated in the fourth quarter of 2018, up by 134 year-on-year. New companies operating in Wholesale & Retail Trade (532), Business Services (311) and the Construction sector (173) predominated. Total value of registered capital fell by 53.6% year-on-year to MOP277 million as a branch of a Mainland bank was set up in Macao in the same quarter of 2017. On the other hand, value of registered capital in the Transport, Storage & Communications sector soared by 735.5% year-on-year to MOP43 million, attributable to the incorporation of a number of companies with large capital in the Transport sector in the fourth quarter. Companies in dissolution totalled 208, down by 17 year-on-year, and the value of registered capital of these companies amounted to MOP226 million.
