Committee for the Development of Conventions and Exhibitions Held First Plenary Ordinary Meeting of 2019

The Committee for the Development of Conventions and Exhibitions held its first plenary ordinary meeting for this year on 16th January in the Multi-function Conference Hall on the 19th Floor of China Civil Plaza. The meeting included the briefing on the current policy supports for the convention and exhibition sector (or MICE industry) and relevant measures, the discussion on the analysis report of Macao’s current MICE talent pool and support measures for MICE development in neighboring regions, as well as the consultation with the Committee about measures responding to the development of Macao’s MICE sector, aiming to optimise and foster the development of Macao’s MICE industry.


UM’s Faculty of Law Draws Students from Portuguese-speaking Countries for Its Unique Advantages

Every year, many students from Portuguese-speaking countries choose to study law at the University of Macau (UM). The Faculty of Law (FLL) at UM has a strong faculty team comprised of high-calibre scholars from Macao, mainland China, Portugal, and other countries. The faculty regularly invites world-renowned scholars in the field to serve as visiting professors, and hires incumbent judges, prosecutors, as well as legal experts and attorneys working in the government to teach on a part-time basis, in order to produce legal professionals with a global mindset and competitiveness.

The “Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig” to dazzle 3rd Day and 6th Day of Lunar New Year as the first highlight of Celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao SAR

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) will present the “Celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region – Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig”, the mega celebration event, on the 3rd day (7 February) and 6th day (10 February) of Lunar New Year to celebrate the joyful occasion with residents and visitors. The event features a range of spectacular activities from float parade, large-scale performances, fireworks display and float exhibition to Favourite Parade Float Voting. The event will be the first highlight presented by MGTO to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Various functions available on website and app

Consumer Council conducted its ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 16 January for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Horte e Costa, Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga and Rua da Emenda areas in Santo António Parish. Consumers may now check the report data on the Council’s website (www.consumer.gov.mo) or the “Supermarket Price Information Platform” app.


Government committed to ensure stable gaming revenues

The Government is committed to ensure Macao has stable gaming-sector revenues for 2019. This was despite uncertainties globally, linked to friction on trade issues between China and the United States; possible interest rate rises; and other issues affecting the world economic system.
