Company statistics for the 1st quarter of 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that a total of 1,613 new companies were incorporated in the first quarter of 2019, an increase of 160 year-on-year. The newly incorporated companies engaged mainly in Wholesale & Retail Trade (539), Business Services (470) and the Construction sector (169); total value of registered capital soared by 428.7% to MOP1.2 billion, of which MOP1.1 billion came from Financial Services. Besides, value of registered capital in the Transport, Storage & Communications sector rose by 23.8% year-on-year to MOP65 million, attributable to the incorporation of a number of passenger transport companies with larger capital during the quarter. Companies in dissolution totalled 210 in the first quarter, and the value of registered capital of companies in dissolution amounted to MOP81 million.


Transport and communications statistics for March 2019

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that, as at end-March 2019, total number of licensed motor vehicles edged down by 0.2% year-on-year to 238,725; light motorcycles (25,309) dropped by 10.2% whereas light automobiles (108,083) and heavy motorcycles (97,784) rose by 1.2% and 1.4% respectively. New registration of motor vehicles in March decreased by 12.2% year-on-year to 1,140, owing to a 16.5% decrease in heavy motorcycles (650). In the first quarter of 2019, new registration of motor vehicles declined by 25.5% year-on-year to 3,094. Number of traffic accidents went down by 2.4% year-on-year to 1,097 in March, involving 381 victims and 2 of them were killed. In the first quarter, there were 3,184 traffic accidents and 1,090 traffic casualties.


Suspension of Services – S. Paulo Kiosk

The Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau announced that owing to business adjustment, the service of the postal kiosk of S. Paulo will be suspended with effect from 18th May 2019. Public can approach the following post office for the postal services:


7th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo gathers industry professionals from worldwide for familiarization visit to Greater Bay Area cities to tap into tourism cooperation opportunities

Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) invited over 120 tourism industry professionals from across Asia, the Americas, Europe, Australia and Russia to take part in the 7th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (referred to as the “Expo” or “MITE”). Most of them also leveraged the opportunity to pay an inspection visit to cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to tap into new possibilities for tourism cooperation across the Greater Bay Area.



Macao Museum organizes various activities to mark the International Museum Day Carnival

The “Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2019”, co-organised by Macao’s museums, will be held on 12 May (Sunday). In response to this year’s International Museum Day, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will launch a series of educational and entertaining activities in May, including workshops and storytelling activities, in order to raise the public awareness to this date.

Macao International Museum Day Carnival 2019 opens in May promoting the integration of museums in the community

In order to celebrate the International Museum Day on 18 May, 14 museums in Macao co-organize the annual “Macao International Museum Day Carnival”, themed “The Mobile Museum – Praia Grande x Cultural Hub”. The opening ceremony will be held on 12 May, at 3pm, at Anim’Arte NAM VAN, and will be attended by representatives of cultural entities from Guangdong Province, the Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government and its affiliated museums. The general public is welcome to attend the ceremony.


Two museums of MGTO present interactive booths to celebrate Macao International Museum Day

The Grand Prix Museum and the Wine Museum, both under the authority of Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will join close to 20 other museums in Macao to present the 2019 Macao International Museum Day Carnival in celebration of the International Museum Day. In the Carnival themed as “The Mobile Museum – Praia Grande x Cultural Hub” this year, MGTO will host a Grand Prix interactive game booth and DIY craft workshop with wine bottle corks, to promote the Macau Grand Prix and the glamour of Macao as a Creative City of Gastronomy among residents and visitors.
