Registration for the Seminar “Film Distribution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” is open

Co-organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the Guangdong Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and Create Hong Kong, the seminar “Film Distribution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area”, part of the 2018 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Film Production Investment and Trade Fair, will be held on 5 September (Wednesday), at 2:30pm, at the Ballroom on the first floor of the Regency Art Hotel Macau. Online registration for the seminar is available from today until 3 September (Monday), at 5pm. Admission is free. All interested parties are welcome to participate.


Proposed facilities for hazardous materials to undergo environmental impact assessment

The Government has decided to conduct an environmental impact assessment on two sites in Coloane proposed for creation of storage facilities for hazardous materials.


UM hosts research camp on translation and cognition

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) recently hosted the Momento Boot Camp 2018 – a one-month research camp gathering nearly 30 researchers from 11 countries and regions, who worked together on a research project led by FAH professors and made significant progress. It is believed that the boot camp will pave the way for fruitful research in the next few years.



UM’s science summer camps increase secondary school students’ scientific knowledge

The University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) recently organised seven summer camps, which attracted more than 150 students from 16 secondary schools in Macao. Some students say the summer camps allowed them to acquire knowledge outside the classroom and conduct experiments with advanced lab equipment, so that they could learn more about UM’s teaching environment, adding that the camps will help them make better-informed decisions about which major to study in college.


Gross domestic product for the 2nd quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2018 grew by 6.0% year-on-year in real terms attributable to the steady growth in exports of services and private consumption; the economic growth in the second quarter was lower than the 9.2% rise in the previous quarter due to a smaller increase in exports of services and a notable decline in investment. External demand maintained growth, which pushed up total exports of services by 13.0% year-on-year, with exports of gaming services and other tourism services rising by 13.7% and 13.0% respectively; meanwhile, exports of goods went up by 30.0%. Domestic demand eased slightly owing to an 11.9% decrease in investment; private consumption expenditure and government final consumption expenditure rose by 5.3% and 5.1% respectively year-on-year; imports of goods increased by 10.0%. The implicit deflator of GDP, which measures the overall changes in prices, went up by 3.5% year-on-year.


Results of retail sales survey for 2nd quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the value of retail sales for the second quarter of 2018 increased by 23.7% year-on-year to MOP18.01 billion, yet fell by 13.4% as compared with the revised figure (MOP20.79 billion) in the first quarter of 2018. Watches, Clocks & Jewellery accounted for 21.1% of the total retail sales, followed by Goods in Department Stores (15.8%), Leather Goods (13.4%) and Adults' Clothing (12.4%).


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ in Taipa and Coloane area

Consumer Council conducted its latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 23 August for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 11 supermarkets in Taipa and Coloane area.


IFT holds Student Orientation Ceremony and National Flag Raising Ceremony
