Social Security Benefits and Allowances to Increase Next Year

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) today (5 December) introduced to the Standing Committee for the Coordination of Social Affairs the proposal to increase the amount of benefits and allowances for the Social Security System from 2019, and the proposal was unanimously agreed by the employer and employee representatives of the Committee.



Monetary and financial statistics – October 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, broad money supply retreated in October with a stable share of patacas. Meanwhile, resident deposits dropped from a month earlier whereas loans to residents posted an increase.



UM’s Confucius Institute holds first graduation ceremony for Chinese language courses

The University of Macau (UM) Confucius Institute recently held the first graduation ceremony in the 2018/2019 academic year for students from its Chinese language courses and an inauguration ceremony for its alumni association in the Black Box Theatre in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH). Some students say that the Chinese language courses offered by UM have increased their understanding of Chinese language and culture, and they believe that the alumni association will help to strengthen ties between faculty members and students from different places.

Consumer Council conducted its first ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 3 December for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Areia Preta, Mong Há and Avenida de Venceslau de Morais in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.


UM, HKBU co-organise World Business Ethics Forum

The Seventh World Business Ethics Forum, co-organised by the University of Macau’s (UM) Faculty of Business Administration and Hong Kong Baptist University’s (HKBU) School of Business, with assistance from the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK), was recently held in Hong Kong and Macao. Titled 'Business Ethics, Leadership and New Economy’, the event attracted nearly 100 experts, scholars, and postgraduate students from around the world.
