MPI Teacher and Students Study Medical Rescue Service and Rehabilitation Therapy in Sichuan

For the purpose of facilitating the academic exchange between mainland China and Macao, and learning the implementation progress of rehabilitation therapy after the WenChuan earthquake, Macao Polytechnic Institute (MPI) co-organised an exchange programme with Sichuan University (SCU) - The Hong Kong Polytechnic University: Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction, to enhance students’ knowledge and techniques of medical rescue service. An MPI teacher and students of the Nursing and Speech-Language Therapy Programmes of the School of Health Sciences participated in this exchange programme. Inspired by such an exchange programme, MPI students are resolved to become outstanding medical professionals and thus contribute to the Macao Society.




FSS Publishes its Annual Report for the Year 2017

The Social Security Fund (abbreviated to FSS in Macao) today (July 26) published the Social Security Fund’s Annual Report 2017 to summarize the work of the FSS. The Annual Report mentions that 2017 is a breakthrough year for the FSS. The contribution amount for the first tier, Social Security System, was increased to 90 patacas so as to make both employers and employees take on more responsibilities; and the draft law for the second tier, Non-Mandatory Central Provident Fund System, was passed by the Legislative Assembly in 2017, and it came into effect in the following year. As a result of the increase in functions, the FSS revised its organizational structure and introduced a series of optimization measures relating to administrative procedures in order to improve the quality of its services. As of the end of 2017, the net asset value of the FSS was 77.411 billion patacas, and the asset status was stable.



UM scholar becomes the first Chinese to win Tracy Lynn Faber Award

Greta Mok Seng Peng,an associate professor from the University of Macau (UM) Faculty Science and Technology, who is also a joint associate professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, recently received the Tracy Lynn Faber Memorial Award at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI). She also received the International Best Abstract Awardfor the second consecutive year for her work titled ‘Comparison of Different Tc-99m-MAA Imaging Protocols for Y-90 SIRT Treatment Planning’.


Jointly Forging an International TCM Quality Control Base Plaque Unveiled for the Liaison Office of the Guangdong Food and Drug Administration in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao

Organized by the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao (hereafter “GMTCM Park”), the “Plaque Unveiling Ceremony of the Liaison Office of the Guangdong Food and Drug Administration in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Cooperation between Guangdong and Macao and the Research Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology and Policies” was held today (25 July) at the multi-functional Conference Hall, 2nd Fl. of the R&D Headquarters Building of the GMTCM Park. Approximately 200 participants attended the event, including representatives from government, review experts and enterprise representatives from Guangdong and Macao. The organizer hopes that, by establishing the Liaison Office, a communication platform will be built for medicine regulatory authorities, industry experts and enterprises in the GMTCM Park. Moreover, it will also provide technical guidance and policy advice for enterprises during the process of registration and application, assessment and certification.


Government making continued effort to optimise loan schemes

The Secretary for Economy and Finance, Mr Leong Vai Tac, today said the Government was making a continued effort to optimise its existing subsidy and loan schemes that are available to local businesses.

“Brand Expansion Continues, Business Opportunities to be Seized” – The “Macao Franchise Expo 2018” (2018MFE) will be held at the Venetian Macao from 27 to 29 July, with more than 150 brand enterprises from home and abroad participating. This year’s MFE has set up a “Smart Retail Zone” to enable participants to learn about the latest technologies and services the retail industry has to offer. Meanwhile, the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Business Zone” and “Youth Entrepreneurship Exhibition Area” are freshly introduced to the MFE this year.
