Announcement of the tender results for the “Preparation of the New Macao Central Library Project”

The Cultural Affairs Bureau held a press conference about the “Preparation of the New Macao Central Library Project” on Saturday, 17 November, at 3pm, at the Old Court Building, introducing the tendering process of the library design and planning and the winning design proposal to the public. The press conference was attended by several members of the Committee of Proposal Evaluation, including representatives of local public departments, library professionals and architects from home and abroad, and representatives of the winning company.



Optimization of Online Information concerning Temporary Residency Application by Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) has been releasing the quarterly, semi-annual and annual data of temporary residency applications, approved applications and beneficiaries. In order to further enhance the information transparency, data of disapproved/cancelled applications, industries involved in residency applications based on major investment, sectors involved in technical immigration for managements or technical personnel will also be presented in details. Statistics will also be further categorised to demonstrate the proportion of the ten professions in the five industries to which are given priority in the introduction of talents, namely the financial industry, information technology industry, traditional Chinese medicine industry, Portuguese-speaking market and Chinese-Portuguese translation sector, convention and exhibition industry. IPIM will also continue to enhance the information transparency in the future.


UM students sweep top three prizes at 16th Portuguese Speech Contest

The Department of Portuguese under the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) yesterday (15 November) held the 16th Portuguese Speech Contest in the Lecture Hall of the Anthony Lau Building. Students from four local tertiary institutions, namely Macao Polytechnic Institute (IPM), the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), and UM, participated in the contest. The event also attracted hundreds of teachers, students and prominent figures in the local community.


CE outlines plans to embrace Greater Bay Area opportunities

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, outlined a number of measures in the Government’s Policy Address for the Fiscal Year 2019 regarding development of active cooperation between places covered by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area).


Government to maintain its prudent fiscal policy, says CE

The Government would, in strict accordance with the principle of fiscal prudence required by the Basic Law, clearly lay down the guidelines for the allocation of fiscal surpluses. This was to ensure the implementation of long-term mechanisms and to secure fiscal reserves at minimum risk, said the Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On. He was speaking this afternoon in response to legislators' questions about the Government's fiscal policy.


CE pledges firm protection for employees

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, reiterated today the Government’s firm commitment to protecting the rights of employees. He pledged amendments to the Labour Relations Law would be aimed only at generating better conditions for employees.
