Tourist price index (TPI) for the 2nd quarter of 2018

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the Tourist Price Index (TPI) for the second quarter of 2018 went up by 2.78% year-on-year to 129.86, on account of rising charges for hotel accommodation and restaurant services, higher bus fares and airfares, and dearer prices of local food products. Among the various sections of goods and services, price indices of Accommodation, Transport & Communications and Food, Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco rose by 7.05%, 6.30% and 4.25% respectively.


Consumer Council released latest ‘Supermarket price survey’ Surveyed spots included supermarkets in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish

Consumer Council conducted its third ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 12 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included 13 supermarkets in Toi San, Ilha Verde and Fai Chi Kei areas in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.




“China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” comes to an end on Friday

The first edition of the “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was launched last week with five major highlights, fully displaying Macao’s role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries and showcasing the charm of a multicultural renowned city. This Friday (13 July), one of these activities, the “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Film Festival” will come to a close with some of the works of a great Portuguese film master, while the exhibitions “Chapas Sínicas—Stories of Macao in Torre do Tombo” and the “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” will be open until September this year.


Macao Orchestra’s 2017-18 Concert Season Closing Concert Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 grandly staged on 28 July

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 - 2017-18 concert season closing concert of the Macao Orchestra, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will be held on 28 July at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, at 8pm. OM’s Music Director Lu Jia will conduct this masterpiece and several talented young Chinese vocalists in the international classical music scene have been invited to perform on the same stage. Together with the participation of Taipei Philharmonic Chorus, OM will offer the audience a high-quality concert. Tickets are now on sale at macauticket.com.


La Scalla Ballet at CCM Giselle’s Romantic Splendour

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents Giselle, one of the greatest classical pieces of all time by the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company. This world-class, full-length production will be staged in four shows, running from 7 to 9 September at the Grand Auditorium.


Red Market Library reopens to the public next week

The renovation works at the Red Market Library, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), have been concluded and the Library will reopen to the public on Wednesday, 18 July. The Library is open from 7am to 2am, from Mondays to Sundays.
