La Scalla Ballet at CCM Giselle’s Romantic Splendour

The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, presents Giselle, one of the greatest classical pieces of all time by the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company. This world-class, full-length production will be staged in four shows, running from 7 to 9 September at the Grand Auditorium.


Red Market Library reopens to the public next week

The renovation works at the Red Market Library, under the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), have been concluded and the Library will reopen to the public on Wednesday, 18 July. The Library is open from 7am to 2am, from Mondays to Sundays.


UM discovers protective effects of ω-3 PUFAs to prevent vascular dementia

Researchers from the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences (ICMS), the University of Macau (UM), have discovered the protective effects of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs), which can reduce microinfarct burdens, improve cognitive deficits, and prevent vascular dementia. The study was recently published in EBioMedicine supported by Cell Press and The Lancet.


32nd Portuguese Language Summer Course to open next Monday

The opening ceremony for the 32nd Portuguese Language Summer Course, organised by the Department of Portuguese of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Arts and Humanities, will be held next Monday (16 July) at 6:00pm in the University Hall (N2). This year’s course will be attended by over 460 students from 11 different countries and regions.


CE meets the Secretary of the CPC Dongguan Municipal Committee

The Chief Executive, Mr Chui Sai On, concluded a tour of mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Greater Bay Area), on Wednesday (11 July) by leading a Macao delegation to Dongguan in Guangdong Province, to meet with the Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Dongguan Municipal Committee, Mr Liang Weidong. During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to industry, economic matters and trade, transportation, as well as cooperation in youth development. They voiced the belief that cooperation between the two cities would create unprecedented opportunities.


Mortgage loans statistics – May 2018

According to statistics released today by the Monetary Authority of Macao, new approvals of residential mortgage loans (RMLs) rose while those of commercial real estate loans (CRELs) decreased in May 2018. With regard to the outstanding balance, both RMLs and CRELs witnessed monthly increases.

Consumer Council conducted its second ‘Supermarket price survey’ on 11 July for the implementation of Section 2b), Article 10, Law 4/95/M of 12 June. Surveyed locations included supermarkets near Iao Hon Market and the Border Gate area (Portas do Cerco ) in N. Sra. de Fátima Parish.
