The Tourism Crisis Management Office (GGCT) is paying close attention to the torrential rain situation in the west of Japan and the earthquake that struck the Kanto region of Japan today (7th July). GGCT will maintain in close contact with the Macao travel industry for any developments.


Chief Executive Chui Sai On attended the opening ceremony of “Cultural Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”

The “Cultural Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” began today (7 July), at 10am, on the 4th floor of the Macao Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Chief Executive of the Macau S.A.R. Government, Chui Sai On, the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Zheng Xiaosong, the Minister of Culture of Portugal, Luís Filipe de Castro Mendes, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, Ye Dabo, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng, the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong, Vitor Sereno, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, Xu Yingzhen, the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, the Director of Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, the General Director of the General Directorate for Book, Archives and Libraries of Portugal, Silvestre Lacerda and the representative of the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Li Jiangang.



Four local citizens receive Certificates that nominate them as Representative Transmitters of National Intangible Cultural Heritage

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China presented certificates to four local citizens today (6 July), namely Au Kuan Cheung for Cantonese Naamyam, Chan Kin Chun for A-Ma belief and customs, as well as, Chiang Kun Kuong and Ip Tat for Na Tcha belief and customs.


“Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” presents a program filled with special events

With the support by the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, and organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the first edition of the “Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” has been launched. In order to promote the cultural exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking countries and establish an exchange and communication platform, a series of special events will be successively held on 7 and 8 July, including the “Cultural Forum between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” to be held on the 4th floor of the Macao Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre for two consecutive days, also including the inauguration of a series of four contemporary art exhibitions that are part of the “Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”.


“China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Gala Performance” presented

The “China and Portuguese-speaking Countries Gala Performance” of the first edition of the “Encounter in Macau – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was staged today (Friday) at 8pm at the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium.Gansu Performing Arts Troupe and various artists and groups from eight Portuguese-speaking countries were invited to offer ancient music and lively songs and dance performances. A number of enthralling cultural performances were presented, creating a lively atmosphere and receiving rounds of applause. On the same night, the organizer hosted a banquet for guests, participating artists and coordinating staff.


Exhibition “Chapas Sínicas—Stories of Macao in Torre do Tombo” officially opens

The first edition of “Encounter in Macao—Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, with the support of the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture, features a variety of events and activities. The exhibition “Chapas Sínicas—Stories of Macao in Torre do Tombo”, jointly presented by the Archives of Macao and the National Archives of Torre do Tombo of Portugal, was inaugurated on 6 July, at 5pm, at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao. The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China, Luo Shugang; the Minister of Culture of Portugal, Luís Filipe de Castro Mendes; the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Alexis Tam Chon Weng; the Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, Xue Xiaofeng; the Consul-General of Portugal in Macao and Hong Kong, Vitor Sereno; the President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian; the General Director of the General Directorate for Book, Archives and Libraries of Portugal, Dr. Silvestre de Almeida Lacerda; the Director of the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, Lau Wai Meng; the Acting President of the Administrative Committee of the Macao Foundation, Zhong Yi Seabra de Mascarenhas; and the Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office of the Macao S.A.R. Government, Hoi Io Meng.




UM kicks off 1st Macau Tournament of Champions BP Invitational 2018

The opening ceremony for the First Macau Tournament of Champions BP Invitational 2018 was held today (6 July) in the University of Macau (UM) Student Activity Centre Theatre. Co-organised by UM and the Macau English Debating Association, the three-day event provides an opportunity for debaters to participate in British parliamentary debates and make friends at the same time.
